Anyone think The Beatles are overrated?

oh right. i thought they were that rock n roll that they'd put the gallaghers to shame? though i'd hardly say that the gallaghers were short on wittiness either, they just didn't pour the charm on like the beatles. heck, atleast the gallaghers knew what they wanted to be and stuck to their dodgy roots. what did the beatles do? keep the good boys image for the fans and chuck a tv out of the hotel window but keep it under wraps?

There isn't a bigger arse than Liam Gallagher...He loved the Beatles and even called his son Lennon...What a Fan boy...

Other than the Oasis wanting to be the beatles and stealing lyrics and riff from them I don't see why the two are compared.

As soon as there was a sniff of a deal Oasis moved to London Just like the Beatles did.

i think every beatle is ok but john lennon was a complete arse, no matter how talented he was. here he shows what kind of bloke he was. a complete arse.

i notice the uploader of the video (probably a beatles fan) titles it 'john lennons interesting sense of humour. i'd title it 'another example of lennon being an arse

You do know what John Lennon is doing there in that Video don't you? Were Liam flicks the V sign and does nothing on stage trying to act rock and roll and hard Lennon is basically taking the **** out of the whole audience my insinuating they are simpleton and goons.

What is more Rock and Roll than not giving a crap about your audience and ridiculing them?

I love the way Liam attempts a false attack on the stage attacker....Waits for the heavies and then hides behind them:D

Liam is style over content...He's not big or clever and I would easily beat him in a fight :p

So by your definition, Justin Bieber is one of the best ever then? Look at what he's done and won? You can't argue with that.

Surely you must agree considering how you rate artists?

Who is Justin Beiber?

Oh right, he's made one main album and a christmas album and you think he is bigger than Iron Maiden or Kiss or Metallica or The Beatles?
I also never mentioned awards, I only mentioned record sales, concert tickets & merchandise.
Awards aren't cash.

I fell out with you dimple...as I challange you and I usually win

This time...You're doing all the work for me

Hug?:D

Their music was / is worse than mediocre.

The masses love below average music.

Put bad music + general public together = success.

I suggest you go and look at the music charts in 1962 and then you will see why The Beatles were a revelation.

BTW, I'm not a Beatles fan but give credit where it's due.

Im not really bothered by the music charts in 1962, but music has been in decline ever since the 'popular music' genres were first invented, I think around 1960.

Care to elaborate with some examples?

Thanks

Not of Beatles Music...Of something else?

Britney Spears, Spice Girls, Steps, Abba, Justin Bieber, Beatles!

Abba are superb songwriters...

You clearly know nothing about music....Even if you don't dig Abba...which I don't, I can apprciate a well crafted pop song

Britney Spears, Spice Girls, Steps, Justin Bieber, I agree with its mass wall paper muzak.

Don't confuse popularity with being mediocre though....In some instances the distiction is not that clear cut.

You never win, slagging peoples musical taste off is not winning and slagging a man's guitars off is not winning.

cm1179 thinks that having a merchandising line = manufactured band.

There's faulty logic in there somewhere.

KISS as biggest selling rock band is a revelation tbh. I'm totally not into them, but the influence on Pantera is starting to become clearer.

Gallagher's as the hard men of rock n roll makes me chuckle. Honestly!

This thread is quite educational, especially regarding Beatles. More cold hard facts please!

Songwriting =/= good music.

Anyone can write a song. Whether they make a decent one is a matter of personal opinion, but I dont think that any of Abbas, or the Beatles songs are up to the best standards of music.

I studied a minor in music and am beyond Grade 8 on the piano. I heard several classical guitarists / double bass players while at uni who put talentless popular gutarists like the Beatles and Oasis to shame.

Yeah, one only knows how to read notes on a piece of paper while the other knows what makes a good song.
I'll let Easyrider tell you the story about Frank Zappa (talentless) and (I think) the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.
