Spending 3k+ on your kids for Christmas, you got to be kidding

"I was a great student at school and had big dreams. I got three As and two Bs in my GCSEs and went on to get an NVQ in childcare with the aim to set up my own business.

Your argument is now invalid. It's ridiculous...

What's more, how is she getting JSA, when she admits to being a full time stay at home mum...

This makes me so furious:

She says: "If I got a job, it would only be on minimum wage and I would have to pay rent, bills and childcare. It would be a stupid thing to do.

"Why on earth would I want to work 40 hours a week, never see my boys and earn no money when I can pick up benefits every week and be a full-time mum?"

"Luckily, picking up benefits means they don't have to. The rest of the world is doing it and if I can't pay it back, I'll simply do a Kerry Katona and go bankrupt."
"I read about one girl going bankrupt twice before she was 30 recently and as I'm on benefits I know I'll never lose my house."

This is just outrageous...

That's pathetic considering the woman is on benefits.

Sorry but how do you know? Are you their dad?

I can see what he means though. All these gifts, and when it finally hits the fan and she's skint, they will have nothing.

Going from everything, to nothing when you are a kid is impossible to take in.

If she is already 1,100 in debt from last Christmas and is borrowing probably 1.5k again this year. I imagine the kids will not be having such a great Christmas when their Mum can no longer pay off her loans.

I don't understand how she can get these loans? Surely the banks have learnt something from this crisis. These loans are basically instant bad debt for them. How will she ever be able to pay them back if she keeps getting further and further into debt every year because she is a thick idiot?

And yet they refused me a loan because I had a default on a credit card 4 years ago. Amazing.

I suppose these high interest loans come from somewhere other than a bank though.

I dont see why people get angry at this kind of thing, while there is a system in place people will use it.

The only thing that irritated me was her statement that she would do a Kerry Katona and go bankrupt, I hope that any credit card companies cut her off immediately.

What is a five-year-old going to do with a laptop?

The Sun probably gave her the money - their readers love to hate someone like this, most likely because the disgusting materialism and irresponsible spending hit close to home.

Terrible rates, 30% APR + probably.

Once you get to offering money at that sort of rate you only need a few people to actually pay before you make money.

So you become less fussy about who you accept.

Why are the kids playing and holding their Christmas presents now?

I thought Christmas was the 25th?

People like this and stories like this are what give people on any sort of benefits a bad name.

Sadly you never read the stories about people who actually need help from the system and because of this all people who are on benefits are classed as scroungers or scum.

If I speak to anyone and I mention that I am currently claiming benefits I am instantly looked down on. I still work part time and left a full time job earlier in the year as it was destroying my life. Without the help I get from benefits I would prob lose my home. The above story I think is 1. Bull or 2. extreme case.

When I was 5 I got a £30 childrens keyboard. When I asked for lessons and a proper piano, parents said 'NO'.

RRRRAAAAGGGGGEEEEEEE.

This.

The sun, you mean part of Rupert's hacking into the dead family's of our servicemen Murdoch's media empire?.

The sun is just the daily mail for (even bigger) idiots.

Besides - as stated before in this thread, she didn't get the money on benefits - it's loans (combined with saving money all year) - I agree it's terrible money management & spoiling of children.

But when people spend the amount they do on fags/booze/fast cars some of my fellow workers can hardly talk about stupid spending.

That is a ludicrous amount to spend on presents. Her kids will grow up to be spoilt brats.

I completely agree, they'll expect it every year, so every year she'll mount up more and more and more debt and if she turned round to the kids saying she can't afford it, they'll probably rebel or something, then when they get to a certain age they'll realise that they can't afford it or be on benefits themselves.
