The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

I'm also level 17 and the game tells me I've done nearly 90 hours so far, lol. I've accomplished quite a lot so far, but I've no idea how some people are at level 56! They must be absolutely flying through the quests and combat.

Haha, I don't know how I am either lol. I've yet to complete the main questline . Just mainly been running about exploring and doing the odd quest now and again. I have nearly completed the Companion quests and the Thieves Guild quests though. Not started the Assassins brotherhood quests yet.

Also, for the people complaining about levelling smithing etc. Its a single player game so you can decide how you want to play it. If you want to level smithing up but then find the armor makes the game too easy, dont wear it? I leveled up smithing as I wanted to get the Daedric armor. After getting it, it was too easy so I put the difficulty to the hardest setting to level it up but it was still too easy. So now I'm using the Nightingale armor that is far weaker. It only ruins the game if you let it.

Also to level up I went on hunting trips with my bow to shoot deers and bears etc to make leather and mined all the iron ore and it took forever. So tbh, I feel I earned it :p.

How much does siding with factions affect this game? I'm often wary of doing quests for groups as I don't want to make another default to hostile. I'm in the companion circle now - will anyone be hostile now?

I'm about 36 hours and level 26, but I have to admit I've lot a lot of smithing as I'm struggling to stay alive. I've made about 100 daggers just to get my smithing to level 66 so I can upgrade my weapons and armour to decent-ish level.

can anyone give me some tips for an imperial to get some decent weapons? The Knevel guy is kicking my ass - feels like it'll be hours and hours before I'm powerful enough to take him down

knevel is hard but if you can lose him in the ruins you can sneak attack him down depends how you build your char.

I've spent hours crouching in a corner sneak attacking and moving slowly taking people down. Using someone else as bait helps too.

yeah I've tried that but he's super quick and every time he get's a successful strike I loose a load of stamina making it harder to sprint, even with a stamina regen potion. Plus he summons that big rock thing.

I've installed a crafting mod so I've going to wait until i can make Ebony items etc and go back with a shed load of ebony arrows (20dmg) with potions etc see if I can tackle him that way. Once my smithing is up to 100, I should be able to make some awesome weaponry (I hope).

Mage becomes strong, done the main quest on hardest setting without to much problem

raise hp when you level NOT magic, you will thank me later :)

Ok, will give that a go. Am level 16 at the moment and up until now have put almost all my level ups into magicka. I need to start working on enchanting so I can beef myself up, did you stick to robes or did you enchant some glass armour?

Came across my 1st bug last night. Found one of the treasure maps went to the location but there is no chest. I'm definitely in the right place, checked on Google. I've got the map with me as I’ve read that you have to have it.

Any ideas? I restarted Skyrim but still no chest.

I had the same problem. From googling it there wasn't anything decent in the chest anyway.

Decided that for my next play through I'll go pure melee combat, maybe with an Orc for the frenzy ability. Heavy armour and 2 handed and then completely avoid all magic.

Run around with a great axe swiping things :D

Lvl 28 sneaky archer wood elf. Currently out seeking daedric artifacts - found 10 so far. Only done 3 main quests, 2 Companion and 1 Thief.

Based in Riften, but uses backdoor of the house to go out hunting the wilderness, leaving the Mrs to sell stuff. She hasn't done a good job keeping the house tidy mind - the basement floor is covered in potions. Looks colourful though! Paralysis and poison potions work nicely on mages - they used to annihalate me.

Haven't bothered with enchanting or smithing yet, only using what I find. Kitted out in glass amour with an elven bow atm (using iron arrows to keep it fun).

Walking around with the highest mitigation armour in the game at level 5 is kind of meta gaming yourself out of the levelling experience. Not to mention having the highest dps weapons from the start. Level caps need to be in place on crafting and gains from enchanting.

The best armour and weapons would take a lot more than level 5 to get to.

Ive had this game since release day,but havent played it yet, might fire it up later on,as i need something to play whilst im waiting for SWTOR to be released.

Had an ammusing bug myself when doing the markarth question in regards to the foresworn once completed the guards attack me onsight. when offering the option of going to jail they seem to ignore my plea and proceed with about a dozen of them smashing my head in i had to quickly run to the shrine of talos and keep fighting off guards til they offered another line of conversation. eventually letting me pay a 3k bounty i paid it and what was amusing is they then completly ignore me but was wondering around in combat as if they are trying find me  one quick exit and entry back into the city all was well it was a little game breaking for me as it kinda lost its immersiveness at that point lol

I think you are supposed to to jail in that quest. :)

It doesn't tell you with the quest update text on screen, but if you read the journal it says you need to go to jail. I killed 6 guards before I realised and had a 6k bounty.

I read somewhere there was a console command that let you re-do your character's race and appearance, which (as a side affect) also reset all your skills to zero.
Anyone know what this is? Does it let you re-assign all your skillpoints?

I'm level 30ish and bored of being a mage, and want to try an archer without resetting the game and losing all my quest progress and map markers.

I have that bug too, have seen a few people in various forums with it too.

I went to jail and completed the quest. After the quest it said that the bounty was removed and my innonence was proven. However the guards still stop me but the dialogue options are the same from beofre the quest was completed. If I click go to jail they just ask again, I can't pay the bounty as they wont accept it. All I can do is fight them and leave. I can't go to Markarth at all now as it just repeats the same thing over and over!
