warning for a significant storm on Thursday

Meh!

Seems most of the snow warnings have been moved up to Scotland, England is only on watch for high winds. That's just annoying, at least snow is interesting.

I don't fancy cycling or driving in any of this because most people on the road seem to turn in to spastics when it snows or rains heavily.

im hoping for 300mph gusts to just blow my back garden away and save me having to clear it up

Well im off work tomorrow, hopefully there will be some trubly biblical weather in london so I can sit in my nice dry warm house and I can ring my apprentice and see how him and my supervisor are getting on installing perimeter lighting to the roof of a 21 floor block of flats... :D

Just noticed on Facebook that all the schools in our region will be shutting at midday tomorrow, or sooner depending on when the wind starts to pick up. First time I can recall schools shutting for wind before.

Bring it on... had my mud and snows on for nearly a month now waiting for this.

About bloody time. :D

Those who can't read very well or are just lazy.

Should take note that since the OP the various weather warnings have been revised. Problematic snow is only likely to occur at all in Scotland, northern England only faces moderate threat of higher winds. If you're south of Manchester, don't go expecting anything.

Bumping this as it looks extremely serious for large parts of scotland and nrothern England.

one of the most powerful storms that can be experienced in this part of the world.

Wind speeds could gust over 90MPH (130MP on high ground). Make no mistake, this will be a damaging storm and potentially life threatening for people in exposed places. These kinds of storms have often cost lives.

The MetOffice have given a severe weather warning, infact it is more than a warning but an instruction to take action (very rare from the METO).

Not that rare, they do that pretty regularly if it's a bit windy or wet...

Not sure if i like this or not. Walking 2+ miles in the snow, takes a fair bit longer.

From BBC Weather website
Wednesday 7th December
RED WARNING of WIND
Strong winds will effect the whole of the UK on Thursday, with severe gales across northern and central areas.
Damaging, up to storm force winds, are set to target central and southern Scotland, peaking during the afternoon into the evening rush hour. Gusts may exceed 80mph. Disruption to travel is likely. There is also significant risk of structural damage.

I'm due to be on a flight home from Edinburgh to Gatwick at 8pm tomorrow  :(
