It's only ever happened to me once back in 2006 when i decided to do a trade with somebody of DFI forums.

Basically it was my Nokia 6680 for a AMD X2 4400+ i think, the same guy scammed loads of other people of that forum to & none of us ever got anything back even after contacting the Police.

Basically i learnt my lesson, not to be to trusting.

So have you ever been scammed, if so what have you been scammed out of and did you ever get either your money or item ect back, or did you go pay them a visit and break their thieving little neck.

If you'll send me £50 in the post to cover the costs, I'll send you my "How not to get scammed" guide. 100% success guaranteed.

Yup, sold some old PC components on the bay years ago. Stupidly sent them just standard post and the guy claimed that they never arrived...

Some little **** tried to nab £250 off me after I bought a graphics card from him which he didn't post.

So I went and found out every detail about him and his parents, went so far that I actually posed as a kid is his school but a few years above and managed to get one of his real life mates to take a picture of his house for me. After that and telling him that the police would be round at half 8 in the morning to arrest him he quickly gave me the money back!

MY brother once bought 4 litres of Pepsi for £100, and learnt a lesson, never buy a laptop for a dude in his car in an ally and not check the conent before passing on the money aaah if he only had run it past me he could have learnt that for free :P

me lost £20 to a dude with 3 cups and a ball (you know the game) after watching him fleece countless people I fell for it too, I knew how to beat him was to watch the cups, never turn your back but counted my loss and moved on.

More times I am sure but not worth mentioning or remembering :P

years ago courtesy of ebay, in fact, i think it might well have been my first ever purchase on there, it was an AMD XP2500M ( right around the time AMD started locking there Barton's ).

When I was 18 I made the mistake of trusting a "friend" by taking out a phone contract for them.

Needless to say they didn't pay the bills and left me with a £300 bill.

I bet it cost more than that to fix his car when I was done with it, though.

Bought a car from a dealer in Portsmouth a few years ago

me : "has the cam belt been changed"
them : "yes this year"

1 year later cam belt snaps

AA man : "its the original one and has never been changed in the cars 68000 miles (correct interval was 60000)"

check that paperwork kids!

saw on the news that the dealers premises burnt down recently, imagine someone didnt like them very much and did something about it, well that or they scammed their own insurance company!

When I was about 12, I was walking through Market Street in Manchester when a guy came up to me and asked if I wanted to buy some 'stolen' watches for very cheap. He showed me the watches which looked to be Armani and I genuinely thought they were real.

I could not believe that I had the chance to buy a real Armani watch for £10 and quickly handed over my money. I even bought a second one for my mate. I was chuffed to bits and was showing it off to all my friends until about a month later when, whilst walking through a cash and carry near Strangeways, I saw the exact same watches on sale for £2.50 :(.

Tip: Never buy anything off poor-looking people in the street.

Yeah phone insurance.

On the letter they sent it said they were based in swansea - clue n1

Place where I got my contract were going through a lot of accusations they were giving their customer's telephone numbers to scammers - clue n2

I feel pretty stupid as "insurers" kept calling me then they offered me a good deal considering they wanted £200 they I got a call to get it for £100
and thought OK.

Now that I think about it was remarkably stupid of me to 1) Pay £100 for iphone 3gs insurance, 2) Think people who call me are employees of where I bought my phone.

Broke every rule in the book, bought Xbox 360 Elite from Ebay and paid with bank transfer. Surprise surprise Xbox never turned up. £270 out of pocket. Raging.

Not sure but I think the £1,000 I transferred to a friendly Nigerian Prince that wanted to transfer his assets into my bank account may still pan out.

Yes, scammed by someone in MM of this forum.

I bought a £50 AMD chip from him that he never sent and never responded. Took him to small claims court and got back £200 (original £50, court fees, transport fare fees, interest etc.).

May have taught him a lesson but I doubt it, he seems to have done it to many people.

I should have been more dilligent but thanks to a few forum members who were scammed by that person but decided NOT TO POST NEGATIVE FEEDBACK for him it took a while for me to catch up.

Once, it was in the MM - sent a CPU, never got my money (was only £30 but it's the principal). Never saw the guy again on here so not a lot I could do but whatever!

I recently bought a kebab and asked for chili sauce and garlic sauce.
Got back home with it and they hadn't put the garlic sauce on. It's going through small claims court as we speak. I can't name the restaurant for legal reasons.
