Designer clothing

I don't go crazy for designer clothes but I do get a couple of £50-£80 jeans every 6 months or so. I don't spend more than £20 on t-shirts generally or about £40 on shirts. Tesco boxers and socks :p

i have 2 x £300 jackets (all saints and diesel)
a few over £100 jackets (g star and full circle)
i have a £350 hoodie (limited edition christian audigier)

have like 10 pairs of g star jeans some i got for as low as £30 xile clothing sale and some for as high as £130

got a ted baker 3 piece suit - roughly £600 (look like a BOSS wearing this)
got a fcuk 2 piece suit - roughly £250

i have a huge range of ted baker smart shirts ranging from (£50-£150), i must say though the £150 shirt stands out, it looks amazing, ive not worn it yet, it's being saved for my wedding reception, when i saw it i had to have it, but the price tag was high for a shirt.

i have a large range of shirts and trousers from peter werth and full circle as well, basically i only ever buy smart stuff from these three designers.

shoes i have a large collection of high tops and smart shoes, ted baker, peter werth, kurt geiger, adidas, limited edition puma's, etc.

got a large range of knitted stuff which comes out in winter by full circle, g star, peter werth, etc.

i also do buy plain white t shirts from primark, just to wear whilst in the home, or working out in the gym, but i do have a few pairs of calvin klein plain white and plain black t shirts and they are 10 times better, the feel of them on my skin, they dont go out of shape and their look is a lot better.

basically you do get what you pay for, i always get complimented on my shirts. you may think £600 for a suit is excessive, but i figured it's best to buy 1 really good suit and take it to india, and then hand it over to a tailor, and tell him i want 5 suits made the exact same way in a range of different fabrics/lining/colours. custom made suit of the same quality in india will cost me £100. so basically im gonna get 5 ted baker suit clones in india for less than the cost of the original. the workmanship and material will be of the same quality, so long as i find a decent tailor, i have already seen one guy's work which was amazing, very impressive.

basically so long as you don't spend outwith your means, and are smart about it all, you can get some good deals, or some really nice clothing.

i constantly get wow comments on my £350 hoodie, i even had a lecturer when i was at uni ask if he could borrow it for a night. but i have worn it to a few casual birthday parties too and got good comments, it even helps break the ice, as people always ask where i got it from, or who made it, etc.

They fit better, feel nicer against you skin, look better, last longer, the list goes on, it's well worth paying the extra cash.

+1

it also helps your self esteem and make you more confident and feel better about yourself.

when i walk into a room wearing a ted baker shirt, KG shoes, full circle trousers and a nice silk tie, i feel great and always get nice comments, especially on my shirts.

How on earth could you afford a £350 jacket whilst at university?! Are you gustov with a second account?

Not really sure why it was necessary for you to include to prices with your items other than for bragging reasons.

What kind of creeper asks a student if he could borrow their jacket for "a night"?

I'm a generous person by nature but I'd not lend someone my jacket for a night out, especially one that cost so much.

some people work you know? or have decent jobs whilst at uni.

i also bought a £2k+ watch whilst at uni, a Rado.

i like nice clothes, i gave prices to let people know, for example i did say on the g stars i got some for as low as £30 a pair, and some for as high as £130, which is a huge difference.

same goes for ted baker shirts £50-£150 is a huge difference too, but none of my £50 ted baker shirts look expensive, whereas the £150 one is bespoke, you can clearly tell it's worth a lot of money.

he was obviously joking with me, but you know "it's a compliment", because they are saying it's so nice that they want to have one

also it wasn't in a lecture, it was a seminar, where you get a lot of 1 to 1 stuff, i found seminars to be the best thing about uni, some great insights and discussions were had, the staff were always friendly.

that's the great thing about glasgow, when you get nice people, they are exceptionally nice, it's all the idiots who give the place a bad name, but they outnumber everyone else.

Thanks for quoting your whole wardrobe and associated cost of each item.

I hope you don't walk around telling people how much your clothes cost face to face as there's nothing more crass than that.

I've got jackets, suits, shoes etc. worth considerably more than what you've just mentioned, however people will be able to tell that you dress well and respect you for it, telling them how much stuff costs just makes you look like a tool.

Jesus christ.

What did you do work wise whilst at university?

I think whilst ted baker shirts can be very good (especially fit), I still think they are overpriced and can be plagued with that paisley / floral pattern they love splashing over everything. I think fitted TM Lewin shirts are much better value for money. In fact, I'm wearing one right now :D

If I like it, I'll pay for it. I am happy to pay a lot for excellent design (and quality), because design is something I value hugely in my life.

I'm happy to pay £500 for a Paul Smith overcoat, for example, but I am not happy to pay £20 for a pair of underwear with a name on the band.

And no, 'design' does not equal a polo player on a horse stitched onto a £5 polo shirt.

TM Lewin shirts are epic comfort++++!

Their price reflects the quality though.

i even had a lecturer when i was at uni ask if he could borrow it for a night.

Ha ha not sure that's anything to be proud of!

I like designer clothing, but paying over £100 for a shirt of £70 for a polo or hoody - will be no better quality than a £50 shirt and £40 hoody.

i dont buy any of that paisley floral pattern crap, most of mine have stripes or are one plain colour, etc. they are smart looking not the casual ones.

whilst at uni i was the director of a limited company and manager of a restaurant the company leased from another company owned by my father.

so my wage wasn't your typical student pizza delivery driver's £20 a night.

I only buy Diesel and Boss jeans, they are expensive but last litterally for ever and fit very well.
Im not much of a fan of expensive tshirts/jumpers/underwear etc... and have a huge dislike of all things All Saints and Christian Audigier

Jackets/coats I buy with the same Philosophy as I buy jeans, an expensive jacket will fit well and last much much longer than cheaper stuff, I.e I will be wearing my Barbour wax jacket for the 3rd year this year and I expect it will last me many more years.
