Designer clothing

The shirts I have were around £30 I think. Couldn't recommend them more!

i had a look and they aren't "wow" enough for me, i tend to wear them to a desi wedding, where looks are important, then after a few weddings, and they no longer look new, to work, etc.

i liked these 2 though

im thinking that their target market is the working man, in an office aged 25-35. you would be surprised but Next do a lot of these types of shirts which look better around the same price.

this was the last shirt i bought

in fuscia, much more stronger in colour, i got plenty of nice compliments at the wedding i wore it to.

Expensive because they know they have a following who that will buy them to show off. Certainly not proper, quality clothing.
I think you're wrong about Ted Baker and Kurt Geiger. For the former you pay a bit for the name but there isn't any showing off - exactly how many of their lines are visibly branded?

You're especially wrong about Kurt Geiger, who are renowned for superbly designed, lasting shoes. Again, not a hint of external branding.

I can't stand brands like Hollister, Jack Wills, A&F, Superdry, etc. Absolutely awful, yet worn by so many people.

Those brands appeal to teenagers and young students because of the preppy image. Things come in and out of fashion too - as superdry and hollister have become so popular people will avoid wearing them for this reason.

i have 2 x £300 jackets (all saints and diesel)
a few over £100 jackets (g star and full circle)
i have a £350 hoodie (limited edition christian audigier)

have like 10 pairs of g star jeans some i got for as low as £30 xile clothing sale and some for as high as £130

got a ted baker 3 piece suit - roughly £600 (look like a BOSS wearing this)
got a fcuk 2 piece suit - roughly £250

i have a huge range of ted baker smart shirts ranging from (£50-£150), i must say though the £150 shirt stands out, it looks amazing, ive not worn it yet, it's being saved for my wedding reception, when i saw it i had to have it, but the price tag was high for a shirt.

i have a large range of shirts and trousers from peter werth and full circle as well, basically i only ever buy smart stuff from these three designers.

shoes i have a large collection of high tops and smart shoes, ted baker, peter werth, kurt geiger, adidas, limited edition puma's, etc.

got a large range of knitted stuff which comes out in winter by full circle, g star, peter werth, etc.

i also do buy plain white t shirts from primark, just to wear whilst in the home, or working out in the gym, but i do have a few pairs of calvin klein plain white and plain black t shirts and they are 10 times better, the feel of them on my skin, they dont go out of shape and their look is a lot better.

basically you do get what you pay for, i always get complimented on my shirts. you may think £600 for a suit is excessive, but i figured it's best to buy 1 really good suit and take it to india, and then hand it over to a tailor, and tell him i want 5 suits made the exact same way in a range of different fabrics/lining/colours. custom made suit of the same quality in india will cost me £100. so basically im gonna get 5 ted baker suit clones in india for less than the cost of the original. the workmanship and material will be of the same quality, so long as i find a decent tailor, i have already seen one guy's work which was amazing, very impressive.

basically so long as you don't spend outwith your means, and are smart about it all, you can get some good deals, or some really nice clothing.

i constantly get wow comments on my £350 hoodie, i even had a lecturer when i was at uni ask if he could borrow it for a night. but i have worn it to a few casual birthday parties too and got good comments, it even helps break the ice, as people always ask where i got it from, or who made it, etc.

orrr........

It could be placebo effect.

Because it costs more you think its better thus you feel better and give off a more confident vibe and people are drawn to that not your expensive clothes.

Generally why people buy designer stuff. Some cases it is better but for most part its to get some situational confidence short term boost. "Oh yeah I loook like the **** in this new shirt!" then that confidence quickly fades anyway. And so cycle continues to buy more and more designer things to get that boost.

GD Goon 4.

Buys some things from Primark and thing that you're all stupid for buying those things at a more expensive price - scarf being one of them
Buys some stuff from normal shops, thinks people are stupid for paying more.

Bloody hipsters. :mad::p

How on earth could you afford a £350 jacket whilst at university?! Are you gustov with a second account?

Savings! At 18, I was earning almost double that per week and could have quite easily saved it all up (no outgoings) for when I go to uni. Of course, I blew it all though and now have approximately £0 in savings. So yeah, I won't be buying coats for £350 at uni, but you get the point. :o:p

whats your opinions on brands like ted baker, all saints, peter werth, kurt geiger, full circle, etc?

TBH it's all high street tat that you'd find in house of fraser and the like. I'm not saying that it's horrendous, but give the impression that you think it's the **** is completely wrong.

Have a look a brands along the like of Aquascutum, todds, church's, valentino, gives & hawkes etc. This is where you'll start to see real quality and people will notice it too. Anyone can spot ted baker & all saints a mile off.

watch video for hoodie in 3-D much better than the pictures

click for larger pics (much larger)

as you can see the amount of detail on the inside of the hoodie, never mind the outside of it, attention to detail, is key, people are wowed on the outside and when i take it off and they see the inside, gobsmacked, now show me a similar quality of hoodie with embroidery, etc. attention to detail for £50.

I got a Ralph Lauren hoodie from the US this summer for £30. Great quality and it doesn't make me look like an Asian gangster. :p

I appreciate the level of detail though, so I guess at £50 it's a bargain.

i would like to see a £50 shirt anywhere near the quality of my £150 ted baker shirt.

Charles Tyrwhitt Black Label ;)

Ted Baker suits are pants, they wear out ridiculously fast, I've had about 4 over them over the past 2 years alongside others and they LOOK old. I've had to have the trouser cuffs re-stitched, pockets restitched, and dont even get me started on their 'stretchy' suits, which after 3 months lose their stretch.

Guess which ones still look great? M&S.

I truly believe in you get what you pay for.... but sometimes you find things which are genuinely providing quality at a lower price.

Wow. Just wow. But not wow in a good way. You are aware that embroidery costs pennies?

Personally I think that looks truly horrendous! You honestly couldn't pay me £350 to wear that for a day.

Lmao that Hoody is absolutely VILE!

I swear 99% of the public would laugh if you walked past wearing that thing.

Im sorry but Diamanté Skulls and lettering is one of the tackiest things going.

It takes away any credibility of nice embroidery.

The colours are gaudy, the design is FAR too busy. Less is more when it comes to expensive garments in my eyes. Think this is why the Ed Hardy trend didnt stick around long and they are selling loads of the hoodies for 30 quid on Ebay.
