Mate got arrested for saying the 'N' word to his mate - they're both black.

Anyway, being offended does not really do any damage. I can think of loads of different things that a person can do that are far more hurtful but legal.

I agree with you, I think people are too easily offended and unless someone is using threatening behavior then it shouldn't matter.

There's a video on youtube about a canadian comic and his show on "being offended" well worth a watch if you can find it :D

Isn't being offended an emotional response such as happiness/sadness? If so, then being offended shouldn't suddenly grant you special rights in the eyes of the law.

Unless someone is being blatantly verbally abused, then the law shouldn't have the right to arrest someone who may have caused offense when their conversation was overheard, if you don't like what you're hearing then move out of earshot.

The police operate with the law of the country that is the same to everyone regardless of race/sex/age.

If a white person saying that word is offensive then its also the same for any other person saying it in the country.

Next time I'm out and about with my friends I'll turn round to them all and scream "whats up me cracker", in front of a police officer and see if I get banged up for a racial slur.

There is no policeman in this country who would dare arrest a Black person for using the N word. Maybe they were being rowdy and when asked to tone it down, they got a bit abusive to the police?

Either way this is a garbage thread.

It appears there is some confusion over this, I therefore offer my services as a Professional IsItRacist Consultant:

Case closed your honour.

Properly arrested? Cuffed, put in the back of a wagon and taken to the station arrested? Or just pulled aside, had their details taken and told to stfu? The first is a waste of police time imo, the second is justified.

Can't understand why anyone would take offence to being called a Nasty bugger. Seems the police have bigger things to worry about here (see that thread about making custom electronic clocks) - doesn't go down well here :D
