Are rapists normal humans just uncivilised?

I'm going to try and have sex with my girlfriend in the morning. I'm going to trick her into it by making her breakfast in bed, basically fooling her into thinking I care when I actually just want to have sex. Does that make it rape?

Only if she doesn't enjoy it, but enjoys the scrambled egg

No, the rohypnol makes it rape.

Also, is the OP a troll, brutally stupid, or both?

Off on a tangent, I'm curious as to how people can speak confidently about the sexual customs of prehistoric societies, let alone about those of pre-civilisation.

We can extrapolate from what we know about people, at least as far back as the beginning of homo sapiens, but we can't really know. It's not that far back until we get to the point that all we have of those people is stone tools and a few fossil skeletons.

'Rape' or 'sneak attack' (yes, seriously) is common in animals for a reason - its a perfectly good way of being reproductively successful.

Humans of course are far more complex both emotionally and socially. Monogamy is the evolutionary best way (in our culture at least) of ensuring offspring are taken care of and will themselves be more likely to be reproductively successful.

The best way a male can be reproductively successful is to sleep with lots of woman - of course we want to. We choose not to rape because in our society it's not going to lead to reproductive success (jail isn't very assisting in heterosexual antics...).

We don't at face value think our desire for sex is linked to our evolutionary desire to be reproductively successful, but it is. I'm a firm believer that practically all human behaviour is influenced by this. So many things don't make sense at face value, for example, why are boobs awesome and attractive to men? They just... are. But there are reasons.

Meep - I miss biology.

Rape is not simply about sex, it is about power over the individual, anger issues, and so on...

It has little to do with civilisation and what your Science teacher failed to get across to you is that even in primitive and pre-civilisation societies sex was generally consensual, so while it may have been polygamous, brutal and seemingly random it was in fact a cumulation of a complex and specific courtship, not unlike any other animal we see today.

All civilisation has done is added to the evolution of that courtship and it has become more complex and advanced, although when you strip away all that sex is still fundamentally about procreation and the evolutionary pressure that implies on the individual. Some are able to control and/or express that mutually and some are unfortunately not able to do so.

Some rape is for power

Some rape is for lust

Its stupid tro categorise it as 1 reason.

Some dudes are stupid, like retarded special needs stupid but they got dicks..maybe they rape casue they cant get girls through looks or socialising.

Some dude sees a chick really drunk he takes advatage of her, mayeb rapes her he was horny and she coudltn stop him

Some dude in jail wants to embarass another dude adn show him hes the man, he rapes him for power.

etc...

I think rape is fine - who's with me?! They probably deserve it anyway!

Also, I'm only going to post about emotive topics I don't understand to increase the footfall and replies my self-referencing and entirely attention-whorish threads receive.

Lastly, please ban me for being a terrible, terrible person with awful opinions on literally everything.

I had to tidy a few things up from your OP.

You're welcome.

What is stupid is not reading the post correctly before calling someone stupid....

As I said, it isn't simply about sex.....there are other issues such as Power, Anger and so on...not to mention evolutionary pressure on the individual which I also mentioned and nitefly also mentions in more depth.

I wouldn't bother trying to defend yourself compboyo as you are significantly out of your depth if you try.....:p

Wasn't mating back in the day just a case of moving from one partner to another and the male could sleep with as many women as he wanted? Thats what I got told anyway in Science at school.

No it wasn't, yes there was an element of "spreading the seed" but if you look at the animal kingdom, the majority of females want the strongest male to ensure their offspring have a fighting chance at survival.

So are rapists just less developed in terms of civilisation yet perfectly functioning human beings?

No again, rapists are opportunists, they enjoy the feeling of being in control over their helpless victim. I wouldn't say they're less developed, just mental and twisted lol.

we've tried the 'lets beat up the rapist, lets kill the rapist approach' and does it work?

Unfortunatly, human rights prevent society from castrating pedo's and rapists, however I feel the "bricks on both sides = problem solved" approach would work quite well

Anyone think this is the case? They have a perfectly functioning human brain?

First point is questionable, cannibals and pedos have "functional brains" but thats hardly justifable.

maybe more sexually triggered humans, but just don't have the intellectual grasp of modern civilisation

A high sex drive does not a rapist make lol

Don't mean to deconstruct your arguement, I just felt that this way the easiest way to address each point.

Interestingly, I am aware that some girls, quite a lot apparently have a "rape fantasy", now thats worth talking about, prostitutes charge for filling a need, maybe rapists could charge to fill that need lol

Is that really the case though? I was under the, possibly mistaken, opinion that our attraction to boobs, which are indeed awsome and attractive, was more a cultural thing? If different cultures find different parts of the body sexually attractive then it seems to suggest that an attraction to boobs is an evolutionary trait but more a learned response.

I've always considered rape to be more about power, and having dominance / power over another individual, be that male or female.

The only "rape" cases you hear about women doing the raping are school teachers having sex with underaged kids, where were all these horny teachers when I was at school?
