Mate got arrested for saying the 'N' word to his mate - they're both black.

i dont understand how it can only be offencive if someone isnt black says it

if its ok for a black person to say it to a black person then its ok for a white person to say it surely?

No if its to your friends, why would it be?

But I didnt see the video so why didnt your friends intervene and say look copper hes a mate!

But hey its ok for somalian girls to nearly kill a random girl and her boyfriend and get off with "there not used to being drunk" so who knows.

I think you are missing the big picture, regardless whether the two black lads find it acceptable or not, there could easily HAVE been other people there who do find it offensive.

I'll just leave this here:

I don't believe any of that counts as inappropriate.

I'm sure that these sort of posts are made by people playing dumb. It's obviously not that simple.

Let's say there are two men who's grandparents were ran over and killed by a car. A joke between them is the retort of 'well, your grandparents died in a car crash!', which they find funny.

If you went up to one of these men and said 'lol your grandparents died from being hit by a car' then you should probably expect a swipe at your face.

It's similar with the 'N' word. The key word here is context. On a related note it amazes me the amount of people who claim a context when telling a racist joke that it's for the sake of humour, who completely seem to forget the whole 'slavery and oppression' context that automatically comes with the word... Staggering hypocrisy.

I saw this dude with reginald d hunter in the union a couple weeks back, definitely worth the money. He is a brilliant intro act and is a very intellectual guy. As a comp sci i got a lot of it but you could see there was people in the crowd who just couldn't fathom some of his deeper intellectual stuff. The guy talks sense.

I had this conversation with someone years ago about black people using it as a term of endearment and rappers singing the word, yet as a friend if I said it to him he would be offended by this.

It's just one of those quirks in life. I have no desire to use the word and it baffles me how much young black people use the word considering the origins and context it was used in

There were 3 tram videos, 2 of them were plastered all over the media the 3rd was ignored because it was some old man black calling for the death of all whites.

Everyone knows old people are racist, I thought we just took as the norm now?

My grandad still calls them "darkies"

There's videos like this all over youtube but they get ignored by the mainstream media. Ask yourself why the BBC promoted the White woman on the tram as a front page story on an international news website but ignore anything that is the other way around.
