Are rapists normal humans just uncivilised?

The only "rape" cases you hear about women doing the raping are school teachers having sex with underaged kids, where were all these horny teachers when I was at school?

I think you'll find most female rapists would look more like Susan Boyle rather than Megan Fox.

Is that really the case though? I was under the, possibly mistaken, opinion that our attraction to boobs, which are indeed awsome and attractive, was more a cultural thing? If different cultures find different parts of the body sexually attractive then it seems to suggest that an attraction to boobs is an evolutionary trait but more a learned response.

It's speculated that breasts evolved as a female reproductive tactic. A female maximises her reproductive success by sleeping with multiple alpha males (who will provide for her), but most primates do not waste their time and resources on a female who is ovulating (they cannot get pregnant at this time). In most primates breasts swell during ovulation, so by having permanent breasts, male ancestral humans would still be 'tricked' into the initial stages of courting even though successful reproduction may not be imminent.

Nowadays, breasts are predominantly a signal of sexuality, possibly because they are one of the most notable features that make human females so sexually dimorphic (it makes them obviously female). Breast have thus become a self-fulfilling prophecy (I like that sentence) - by having larger breasts, women will generally be more attractive to men. The corresponding offspring will continue express a larger breasted phenotype (in females) which makes them more attractive to males, whilst the male offspring inherit the attraction to breasts (along with the fact that their female offspring will have larger breasts) thus ensuring that males will continue to sustain the genes that give a phenotype of larger breasts in the gene pool. Of course, all of this is fuelled by the idea of the selfish gene - individuals are merely vehicles for the genes which control the show.

Other sexual signals such as larger bums (also an obvious sexual dimorphism) are evolutionary traits of specific populations and often are carried with other traits (black women tend to have larger rears, for example). It's certainly not a predominantly cultural thing.

Men like big boobs we get it.

Anybody who says they have a thing for small boobs is lying, we all like something to hold on too, admit it

What is stupid is not reading the post correctly before calling someone stupid....

As I said, it isn't simply about sex.....there are other issues such as Power, Anger and so on...not to mention evolutionary pressure on the individual which I also mentioned and nitefly also mentions in more depth.

I wouldn't bother trying to defend yourself compboyo as you are significantly out of your depth if you try.....:p

sometimes rape is just aout sex though so what you said was wrong.

Sometimes dudes get horny and have an opportunity so they rape...for sex...thats all...fact

I doubt that the horrific act of rape is purely down to someone being "horny".

Interestingly, I am aware that some girls, quite a lot apparently have a "rape fantasy", now thats worth talking about, prostitutes charge for filling a need, maybe rapists could charge to fill that need lol

What?

Surely thats not true. If so then they're messed up in the head. Rape can never be a good thing, well unless I get raped by Angelina Jolie. Thats definitely a good thing!

Seriously, some girls, including mine love the idea of being held down and controlled. Obiviously it's slightly different that a stranger jumping on them in a dark alley but the rape fantasy is a very real thing

I said that it is not SIMPLY about sex.....not that is is NEVER about sex....

Comprehension failure.

no really sometimes people rape cause they are horny and have opportunity they think not to get caught. Simply for sex.

Sex is not always about secondary reasons such as power and such

Search google I read some studies it was like 20-30%?? I cant recall of girls have dreamt of or have had a rape fantasy.

And for 1/8th of girls its their preffered fantasy.

Main reason being that the fact they are so attractive a man would rape them and be aroused by them arouses them and also the sex would be dominating and powerful.

I can search again for study if necessary but just quoting what I read.

I did not intend to imply that rape just for sex was not a factor, only that it was not the only factor.....

but sometimes it is the only factor.

You are missing the point....I am not discussing a single rape, but rape collectively. I never meant to imply that some will not rape someone just for sex...only that collectively not all rapes are about sex...

is that clearer?

Surely people (I said people not just men) wouldn't just rape someone (I said someone not just women) for sex? I thought people raped people for the thrill of control?

It can be a combination of complex motivations - power or control might be a reason for it but it isn't necessarily the only reason. It's possible that sex could be a sole reason but again it might be merely a part of the motivation.

As for the thread title - yes, generally it's reasonable to consider rape to be a bit uncivilised.
