I wore some Endura Stealth Lite waterproof bib longs this morning. I was expecting to be disappointed, but they were actually very good indeed; particularly as it only rained for 5 minutes and was warm and sunny for the rest of the ride.

I have been pleasantly surprised by the performance of the Endura base layer I bought following a recommendation here. Haven't looked at the Endura brand before, but TBH, a huge thumbs up from me. I'll definitely be having a closer look at their product range.

I used Endura shorts for a while and I now realise that they were terrible.

However, last year I bought an Endura Venturi II jacket and found it to be excellent. I actually wanted a Showers Pass Elite 2.0 since reading the review on the Washing Machine Post, but I wasn't able tog et one in my size. The Venturi II is still a little on the large size, but it's the smallest one they do.

Since then I've got Baa Baa socks and now these stealth bib longs and I'm happy with them.

Scottish company so they know a thing to two about waterproofs and keeping warm.

First commute to work this morning. I looked outside, saw the weather and almost got the train, but I thought about the overcrowded, hot carriage and decided just to man up. It was so fun! The weather was nice in the end and I was actually too hot! If you see me on CS8 give me a wave!

If you see me on CS8 give me a wave!

What are you riding?

I take Embankment from New Kings Road to Blackfriars so I cover the two CS8 sprint sections from Albert Bridge to Vauxhall Bridge and then Vauxhall to Lambeth Bridge.

Generally on a silver titanium Burls, red helmet and orange rucksack with a fibre flare light on it (possibly two if the weather is bad). Don't worry about asking if I'm Asprilla; I'm a member of the Bikeradar Embankment Silly Commuter Racers so I'm used to random people shouting weird things at me.

I seem to be chewing through pads at a stupid rate at the moment!

Idiot drivers count for today = 2...not too bad.

Any takers on those gloves? Got my santini ones back from my brother so no point having two pairs of neoprene gloves is there :P
Which gloves?

A shot in the dark, but can any of you recommend a good cycling nutritionist? I want to lose as much body fat as possible before the KK in February. We're going to the Pyrenees during the 2012 TdF and my RS is going with me. I want to conquer as many of the classic climbs there as I can and not die in the process.

I'm down to 95KG from 108KG but am struggling to get any more off. If I go for a straight calorie deficit I just feel weak and that I have no energy and then my performance during training on the bike sucks.

Really have no clue what I am doing and think I'd benefit from a structured diet.

Any advice?
All I can recommend is what I know from experience.

Cut out alcohol (other than spirits and slimline tonic if you really have to drink).

Eat more fruit.

Have a high protein, fibre and slow carb diet - so no white rice/pasta, only brown/wholeweat. Cut the fatty meats (eg the reeeeally nice ones :(), no red meat, only good cuts of pork, chicken and fish. Only eat stodgy carbs (pasta/rice) once a day.

Eat more fruit.

Change your portion sizes so that you're eating more vegetables than carbs per meal (not neccessarily calorie wise, just serving size wise).

Eat more fruit.

Snack between meals on things like brazil/monkey nuts/wasabi peas/dried fruit. This will speed your metabolism, prevent you from feeling hungry, and help you lose weight.

Did I say eat more fruit?

The best veg you can eat are Broccoli and Kale. But obviously the rest are all good for you too, try to eat potatoes no more than once a day, a few times a week. Whilst lovely, very stodgy.

All good advice from platypus, just one thing to point out:
Snack between meals on things like brazil/monkey nuts/wasabi peas/dried fruit.
The dried fruit still has the same amount of sugar in it as before it was dried, but because its smaller, you can lose track and end up eating a lot of it.
Its not as bad as a mars bar or something, and its stilla good snack, just as long as your careful of how much you're eating.

Aye I suppose I should have clarified that point. I have little ~200g bags of snacks that I take to work in my backpack.

Good Biltong is another awesome snack, very little fat, high in protein and gorgeous!

Hey, it's coming up to Xmas; weight loss is for January, not December.

I am actually eating too much at the moment. I'm not putting on weight, but my body fat loss has stalled. I figure one indulgent month and then back on it for January.

I'm a walking cliche.

I was going to go out and wash both my road bikes this afternoon, but the weather doesn't know what it's doing. Intermittently sunny, overcast and pouring down! :(

I can't be arsed over winter. I'll scrub up for KK but there's zero point in me cleaning my bike over winter, save the drivetrain.
