Best bang for buck 128Gb SSD on the market?

I think for speed, there's no doubt about the Crucial M4 128GB...however it is at around £150; on the other hand, the OCZ Vertex Plus 120GB SATA II 2.5 inch SSD can be had for £104....

I myself is considering grabbing a 120 ish SSD, but still can't really decide to go for budget or speed...granted the M4 is 8GB higher in capacity and faster, but it does cost £45 more...and then theres the question of in real-world usage (not talking about benchmarks), is the M4 really THAT noticably faster...

Probably not. But it does have a reputation for being one of the most reliable makes of SSD, and for having one of the best customer service experiences should anything go wrong. For me that alone was worth the price.

I know what you mean, but for someone...let's say planning on upgrading the rest of the system, that extra £45 on CPU or graphic card instead might be more benefitual...

In the short term yes. But a few months down the line when your expensive new CPU is sitting idle because your bargain basement SSD had died, and no one is picking the phone up or replying to your emails...

With graphics cards and CPU's you can buy cheaper models, like I went for the i7 920 at the time, and then overclock the buggery out of them to get high-end performance. With CPU's especially you can get away with this because they are generally very robust now days. But SSD's aren't so robust yet. In fact they have a pretty high failure rate as many SSD owners on these forums will attest to. So you can justify buying what ever you like, but there's still a high probability that your drive will fail within its first 12 months.

Ive tried both the M4 and my current SSD *Corsair Force Series 3* and ive not noticed any difference what so ever in startup times, program/game loading, i even timed how long it took to load games/programs on both and couldnt find a difference, just depends how you optimize your system.

It looks like a second revision of that particular model, although what the exact differences are I don't know. But since the SSD1 version its out of stock everywhere its fairly irrelevant. If you somehow have a choice between the two then I'd go for the CT128M4SSD2, which appears to be the updated version.
