Couldn't agree more with the whole Guilds only allowing sutable candidates in. However there is nothing stopping you from showing some restraint and not joing every Guild with your character. Although a less strict version of how Morrowind handled this very issue would be a bonus. IIRC you had to be a certain level in certain skills to be able to get promoted in the guild and get more quests.
Aye, wouldn't really work in the mages guild in skyrim though since there aren't ranks. The system is basically 'Join as Apprentice, do a couple of missions, passive comment by the Arch-Mage about you being more worthy than an Apprentice, couple more missions, become Arch-Mage'.
Its as if the whole thing was a complete after-thought. You get random directions from a mage order that has vanished with no real explanation, 1 guy turns traitor, again, without any real backstory or explanation (you are basically told what he is and told to accept it...), and people are killed in the most detached way imaginable so you can't help but not care.
For sure you can do that but I don't think it's the correct solution. On the same theme it is also really annoying that you don't have character specific saves/save folders.
Bethesda really should add a character select screen and allow separate save games. It would be beneficial to replay value and allow players freedom to experiment without the weight of feeling forced to create a super toon that can do everything.
I've been saying it for years. I don't care how much effort Bethesda put into the game they are ****ing incompetent when it comes to creating a save system that isn't utterly atrocious. Honestly how much trouble is it to make separate character profiles with individual auto/quick saves like other games use?
Came across another Dragon Priest at the dragon peak north of Fellglow Keep. First time I left my storm atronach to play with the dragon then wandered over to the word tablet... then suddenly got spammed to death by Fireballs. Second time I played with the dragon for a while to level my conjuration, then set about killing the Dragon Priest. About 100x easier than Morokei since he wasn't using an instant hit lightning bolt that could 1 shot me and I could completely block the fireball with Steadfast Ward or just dodge it.
Decided to start a new char anyway. Going for Sneak/Poisons/Archery, should be fun, though atm I'm struggling to find enough arrows to keep me stocked for longer than 5 minutes.
