You know that the 3rd seat only spots doesn't fire? All you said i knew and still say its better than soflam as you got the saftey of the tank.

Enables the Javelin to lock onto a target blind, and also does more damage as the javelin missile does a top down attack to bypass the strong front armour on a MBT.

It also provides a target for tanks using guided shells, and for helicopters and jets using guided rockets.
 
I was just about to give up on bf3, there are few other great games around, when I went back to karkand last night. Brilliant. Looks really good too.

so do you have to have 3rd seat unlock and euipped as perk to use and can join any tank and sit in 3dr seat.

Or

Does driver of tank need to haev 3rd seat unlocked so somebody can join his tank in 3rd seat?

I believe the person wanting to jump in the 3rd seat needs to have it unlocked. It's a permanent perk, so once its unlocked, you dont need to have it active etc.
 
This is my first go on any type of online fps and must say I am impressed with the new maps (although I am cannon fodder) I cant wait to get properly stuck in so I know where the heck I am going :D

I find going on servers with very few participants helps me find my way but does anybody else have any good advice?

if a team used it it could be very effective. AS you say and in vids you dont even need to lock on to target. SOFLAM auto targets vehicles in the area.

So the javelin dude just needs to fire his missle and if there if something locked on in that area it will destroy it

Nah they have upped the javelin damage from memory. A javelin hitting from above to a tank will disable it in one hit and fully destroy it if it wasn't at 100%.

I have taken down quite a few heli's with one hit from a javelin now but unsure if they were already damaged before I hit.

God these new maps bring back memories, you can still remember famous moments and kill streaks that took place in certain areas, its like revisiting as an outer body experience in DX11 glory.

I need good team players.

had a great game on Oman tonight and playing with good sqauddies makes the diff.

Was just 2 off us but we went round Oman in viper destroying all tanks, then had shots in tanks capturging points.

We finished top 2 in our team and top off the whole board. Think I got like 12,000+ points....went on a fair few killing sprees as well.

I dont know if the new maps are easier or many people havent played them as I was getting amazing scores on them. Also, I found tanks and helis total beast mode on b2k. I was doing amazing. Much easier than BF2.
