Tomorrow night - will get the other 2 holes cut and sorted. Will aim to get TV bracket up on the wall if possible.

Heading away next week for a few days but hopefully flooring will get fitted monday by joiner (solid oak flooring), painting will be the next thing and then installing all the goodies thereafter!

How deep are your holes for the speakers?

What dimensions was the holes you cut?

I'm doing exactly the same and need some advice....

Holes for the speakers only require a minimum depth of 103mm. However my "false wall" is about 180mm deep.

The speakers also come with a presized cut out cardboard. Stick it to the wall, draw round it, cut it out and they all fitted perfecly 1st time. Very handy and very simple. I just used a proper dry wall hand saw for cutting. About £8 from B&Q.

LCR 280's - info below from their website.

Overall Dimensions:
(H x W) 423 mm x 270 mm
(16 5/8 inch x 10 5/8 inch)

Overall Depth: 103 mm
(4 1/16 inch)

Cut-Out Dimensions:
(H x W) 387 mm x 234 mm
(15 1/4 inch x 9 3/16 inch)

Mounting depth is different? Its very confusing?

Youi said in a few posts back that you had to take the speakers out as they did not fit properly?

More detail please mate?

Will potentially have to take the speakers at the front back out and fit them again as they are a bit of a tight fit and when I try to put the grills on them the grills are buckling slightly as they speaker units as very slightly to tightly fitted.

:

Tight fit in terms of depth or width?

I need detail as I want to get the holes absolutly right ...Its a one attempt job!

Hey nice post and very well done it looks really nice.

I have personally just made our living room the "entertainment room" and personally i have gone with a dark room black walls with a dark feature wall. When watching movies its great as the light is absorbed by the walls and makes it more immersive. Not sure if this was somthing you had considered?

How do you change channel on sky with it in that box?

use a Fisual IR-1000 Infra-red Repeater.

Great product - basically you attach small IR repeaters to cover the IR bits on the amp, sky box, blu ray etc. (can control up to 8 devices in total)

Then you place a small sensor in view of your remote (got mine on the underside of the unit, barely visible) and it all works from there.

Will get a few more up to date pictures for you later if I get a chance.

Superb conversion.

One question though, is there any thing you would change. room design, layout, choice of kit, etc.

Wish I had a garage for similar home cinema.:(

Build a garage???:D:D

good question. Kit wise - probably not at this moment as it's still newish and not really had any issues. Amp is great really solid and sounds great - speakers - very happy with them as well - the sub is amazing - REALLY can bang out the base when needed.

I did get the TV replaced due to poor colours (red hue on everything) and when the replacement arrived I sat and watch Cars 2 on blu ray and the quality and colour of the picture is amazing - for £1300 for a 59" 3d tv is a total steal!!!

Layout wise/design - don't think so either - nothing annoying me or feels wrong.

I did consider the projector at one time but I think the room would be totally dominated by a projector and it would be too much for the room but never say never I guess.

Will update pictures with sofa etc now in place later

Booyaka: If it had been my home cinema, only thing I would have done, is to fit a projector lift.

yeah - should have room in the ceiling for that in the future but at the moment with 2 kids under 4, work and home life being pretty hectic, i can't justify a PJ from the amount of time I would actually use one.

In the future - it's potentially on the agenda.

Very lucky that the wife is happy with the room but really leaves me to it - she's not that bothered about being in there so gives me time to play FIFA and MLB etc on the PS3 which is superb (MLB being 3d as well!)
