Is gaming all day bad for your eyes.

games arn't as bad for the eyes as the image is always changing, the worst thing is white screens (office type tasks or 'surfing') however these forums are not so bad due to the blue background (or black if you use that) white backed forums are the worst

however I will have to travel alone so that scares me and I may not do it? But as you say you never know whats round corner so whislt young and fit take a chance and travel?
basicly yes....

if i wasn't disabled and able to go out and do stuff my life would be totally different, meaning i would be working, travel, have fun in the outdoors with friends, ect instead of wasting life doing nothing but just gaming/movies.

The main thing i can think of compared to natural light would be that the light source is a lot closer, so where natural light waves arrive parallel to each other light waves from a screen are still slightly bent away from the source. This means that they're a bit harder to focus onto the retina, so your eye muscles have to work harder to pull the lens into shape.

I'd say it's a bit harmful to start with, but as you do it more you learn to look at it like it's just a normal scene, like a book or something. If you just start out or haven't done it in a while then you'll often forget to blink, which does a number on your eyes.

Even so, not taking breaks is stupid.

I game in the dark a lot of the time, no lights at all. Have been a gamer for a long time and my vision in near perect accrding to my eye test 8 months ago.

i do 12 hour battles every saturday..been doing it for 4 years i may get rotated out once and a while but ill try and stay in as long as possible managed 10 last week..lol

yes its easy to say that when you know what the worst is like but still its a bit scary/crazy thing to do.

As for my eyes I haev a lot of flaoters...I wonder if thats from gaming?

Also i have aspergers, and I have been diagnosed, so I am also disabled in a way.

being outside and interacting with people though can be fun can also be boring, over stimulating, confusing and stressful for me.

I prefer to do solo activities. Gaming fits the bill.

well it's your life but just think yourself lucky that your able to go out and do other stuff.

there are people that only can dream/wish for that.

thats true and even non disabled people. EG i have freinds and family my age with kids or no money or stuff and they cant afford or get time of work to travel.

So it is great opportunity

but also having a gaming pc and big tv and nice house etc are also things we can take for granted....some people cant afford anything like that. and people in africa etc....

And im sure though you are disabled you dont take time to appreciate that in the same way we dont take time to think what its like to be disabled or whatever etc?

Dont listen to everyone telling you to get a life or that you dont realise how lucky you are to have legs. you live your life the way you want to, whatever makes you happy in this ****** up world and the comments about being disabled, its not your fault that they are so dont feel like you need to go runninh every day. Some people in this world are starving out there but we still waste a lot of food so the same should go for everyone about a lot of things.

Anyway.. Yes im sure it can damage your eyes in the long run.

Im not feeling like that but sometimes I feel I am wasting my youth. I feel being young should be more parties, meeting girls and getting drunk etc..

but ill be honest and as you rightly said sometimes most often I prefer a night in gaming....Im not a big party kinda guy.

ANd yeh theres all kindsa creeps weirdos and downright nutters out there who live all kindsa type of lifes.

If a dude likes to sit in and play video games and he is happy as larry then thats good for him.

Like I say I wish I were playing football everyday but apart from that yes I can game all day long. And worry about health effects.

however, I read stories korean dudes playd stuff like SC 24-50+ hrs stright and died lol...guys in korea are video game freaks and play all day long

if your that worryed about damaging your eyes ether go to the opticians or don't game all day, do something else.

it's that simple

why start this thread when you already know the answer really.

That's actually a good point :). I guess we all have something we take for granted and there is always someone worse off than yourself.

sorry I wasnt really meaning specific to you.

I just meant to show how its sometimes hard to go about your days considering your life based on what you HAVE and DONT HAVE. Its hard to appreciate things without concsiously thinking about them. Like a guy is in prison. I dont think man I could do some amazing things today that the guy in prison could only dream about. Yet maybe I do nothing but moan or be lazy. BUt the guy in prison is like man if I were out a prison i wouldnt sit on my ass playing video games all day.

I mean some days i get bored as hell. Ive got ps3, pc, loadsa games psp, guitar, sky tv, internet...etc..yet some people in africa aint even got a pot to pee in.

Put them in my house and theyd be like a kid in a candy shop lmao.

PS- i just ramble on incoherently sorry
