The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

It's not just that it's pretty implausible - I think the guilds lose any sense of depth when they become a pet organization.

True. Dark Brotherhood works because no matter what, you are always taking 'orders' from the Night Mother. Only way you can genuinely become the leader of a guild is if the quest line is actually long enough to justify you pushing your way to the top through being awesome and proving you have what it takes. Any thing else just looks forced, hence why the College questline is so atrocious...

Decided to start a 3rd char (My highest is only lvl21, though it did take me 26 hours to reach lvl21 as mage and only 9 to reach lvl16 as archer) just to see how melee combat was and how things were in the Companions. Fighting the Dragon was... painful. Its biting wasn't that strong but the burning took 3/4 of my health down easily.

Is the game worth buying? I know that it's EXTREMELY popular and has some good reviews but from the footage of the game I've see it looks quite slow to what I'm used to.

If you are after CS or BF type games it may be slow for you. However if you enjoy games with story line and don't like being told what to do it's a must have.

Should I get It on PC or PS3?

My PC Specs are:
AMD Athlon II x4 640
AMD Radeon HD6450
4 GB DDR3 SDRAM

thanks in advance

Here's my specs:
AMD PhenomII 965BE
ATI HD5770
8GB PC3-10666

I run it on ultra settings.

Go with PC, you'll be glad you did when the good mods start getting released.

Yeah, agree with all that but have you done the quest (or quests) after you become the arch-mage? I thought they were finished after i was made Arch-mage but just went back there and was given another quest which follows on from the others. I don't know if that is the only one though, as it does say 3 questlines completed in my stats, which i think must mean main/Thieves/Mage.

All the guilds have unlimited radiant quests at the end of the storyline.

I had to get rid of my horned steel helmet, since half the wooly mammoths thought I was their mate and chased me around the bleedin countryside. This is at the same time as their giant owners wanting to club me for upsetting his pet mammoths.

Are you going 1h+shield, 2h or dual wield route? If you're a shield user, you will have it pretty easy as you progress as you get 50% magic/breath resist and shield bash, which really helps with dragons.

Im level 34(22 hours in) on this playthrough and i only just got enough scales to get a full set of dragon scale armor.....so the game should get a bit easier now. I was using leather up to this point as I went the heavy smithing route to get the better weapons, which didnt help with my defense. I still have to rely on my bow to kill dragons, which takes ages, but hopefully I can stand toe to toe with one now.

You're having this many issues because you're a total noob :D
I fight dragons with a roll of paper in one hand and my underpants in the other.

Does Skyrim have an asylum? I think its better for your own safety :p

Yeah I'm going the 1H+Shield route on my Redguard (Adrenaline Rush makes stamina regen crazy fast, could be worthwhile for a dual wielder) but the elemental protection perk is a long way off. My block and heavy armour barely seem to be levelling at all even if I'm taking/blocking hits and smashing people in the face with my shield. Until then I was probably gonna get the sprint shout from High Hrothgar. Closing the gap to a mage instantly and smashing him in the face with my shield should even the odds for now.

Smithing is a little annoying in that regard. The Light Armour path won't get access to Daedric/Ebony weapons (even if you can get them by other means you need a massive amount of fortify smithing to reach Legendary).

I'm the leader of the Thieves Guild, but I don't feel like I am. No one says stuff like "oh hey there, glorious leader", they all just speak to me like I'm still a new recruit. :( Bit disappointing really. I miss the feeling of progression you had in Oblivion, where you got promoted. I'm doing the Dark Brotherhood quests now; I hope that'll be a bit different.

I have started the dark brotherhood it is awesome !

can't wait to start all these quests. I'm trying to get all the little fiddly quests out the way and level up before attempting bigger more key quests.

Last night I did the quest
where the stormcloak poses as an imperial guard
and gets you get the mask and staff. That was a tough fight.

(I realise that appears a random use of a spoiler tag, but it it would spoil that quest ending)

Could someone who's on 1.3 do me a massive favour and confirm the version number of the game exe? I'm not sure if my game has updated to 1.3 as I never go through steam - I always use the 4gb patch. My TESV.exe version is 1.3.7.0 which would suggest it is but I best check.

cheers!

Yes that is correct. You're not really doing it right though. You should be 'going through Steam'. Just run Steam and execute the 4Gb helper that patches the game in memory.
No need to use the old tools that patch the executable on the disc.

Just got the shipping confirmation for the soundtrack from Directsong. I doubt it'll get here before Christmas, but it would be a good Christmas present if it does.

Not sure what you mean? I run skyrim.exe.4g (I think it's called) when I play.
