****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Do a CWM backup, don't worry about doing Titanium backup for this, it wouldn't help you :p.

Kernel version doesnt matter, it's the fact that you're using an odexed ROM(mainly just stock ROMs), rather than deodexed(most custom ROMs) :).

If it doesn't work all you have to do is restore your CWM backup and everything will be exactly the same as before you flashed the theme. You can't break anything (that isn't fixable with a CWM restore) flashing it :).

ok will do, will report back tomorrow if i succeeded mate.... and thanks again.

Can anyone recommend an app that does more detailed battery usage stats than the built-in battery usage info. Twice this week I've gone to bed with 80-90% charge and woken up to <10% left even though display/wifi/3g/gps are all off.

I'm assuming its a rogue app as it hasn't happened every night, and I can easily get through a day with normal usage with around 30-40% left in the evening. The built-in stats aren't showing anything abnormal, just the usual stuff:

Android OS - 27%
Android System - 25%
Display - 22%
Cell Standby - 11%
Phone Idle - 8%
SetCPU - 3%
Wi-Fi - 3%
Email - 2%

Is there anything I can use to analyse more deeply?

Thanks

BetterBatteryStats, there's a free copy on the XDA forums that the developer has posted; so it's a legit copy.

Change the settings to "Partial Wakelocks" and "Since charged". This will show any applications that have invoked wakelocks which keep the phone awake and how long they have kept the phone awake since it was last charged.

Excellent, just what I'm looking for. Thanks.

Hi all,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S II now. What are the first things I should do to get the most out of it and tweak performance?

Its a big thread!!

why? i can't be bothered overclocking at all theres no point it eats everything i throw at it no problems.. the only tweak you might want to do is voltage to increase battery life but i've never done and only read about it :)

my battery lasts 30-40hrs no problems on MIUI unless i use it as its meant than 24hrs+ is what it lasts

What MIUI rom do you use please?

Thanks :)

Playing with Siyah Kernel 2.5.1 at the moment and going to see what undervolting can bring, what safe undervolts have people found to be stable?

Currently I am using this I found on XCDA:

200MHz is set to 925 btw and I am not OCing.

1200mhz 1150mv
1000mhz 1050mv
800mhz 950mv
500mhz 825mv
200mhz 800mv

stable for just short of a month. i don't use 1400mhz+

did you notice the difference between 2.5.1, ntt and att mrk?

I had a quick look in the huge thread but didn't see anything obvious. I think att is the carrier AT&T so ntt is probably non-AT&T, so is 2.5.1 just for non US carriers?

You can do BLN too with Siyah/checkrom, haven't had the chance to have a play yet though.

The two versions ntt/att etc are for US versions tbh, I just installed the CWM one that had no ntt/att in the name.

Yep, runs well for me using CheckROM 4 and Siyah 2.5.1 :).

Actually, I think one of the cutscenes jerked for me, but since I've seen them all aload of times I just skip them anyways :p (why did the PS2/PC never have the option to skip the cutscenes :().

How usable are the controls? I'm ready to drop massive £ on it but I need to know the controls are good!
