psoriasis

I have had it since I was 14. I have developed Psoriatic arthritis too.

I have it on my scalp, knees, behind my thumb nail?! side of my nose and behind my ears, I use Dermovate.

And the arthritis is:
Thumbs
Knees
Feet/Ankles

Currently taking nothing for that. As appointments keep getting moved.

Fun times :p

My Mum used to have it quite badly all over her body, it was especially bad in the winter or when it was very cold and used to crack and be very painful.

RA here. I love winter, but my goodness it's hitting my joints hard this year, especially my elbows and ankles. How about you?

Yep. My fingers/thumbs and balls of my feet seem to be getting the brunt of it this year :(

Need to see if I can get another injection, they seem to work for 3+ months :)

Pah try having it on your genitals... :(

I got it around 16-18 (blame stress of exams) very hard to treat and still very hard to visit the dermo about it (embarassing illness anyone :D )

I had it on my knees but the dermo gave me a tub of stuff the chemist had to make (smelled very minty) I had to put it on before going to bed and then wrap clingfilm around it to stop it rubbing off. Had to do this for 6 weeks and it cleared up and hasn't come back.

However not so easy to do on the old nether region... :( also the cream burned like hell on my knees so wouldn't fancy it anywhere else.

Now got it coming in my left ear and have it on my scalp and my eyelids.

Interesting theory about the mercury will have to google that..

Wow, just been to the dentist yesterday and I'm having two fillings removed. Going to ask her to remove all my amalgam fillings. However what is much more serious is the mercury levels in vaccinations.

Well at least you now know you're not alone OP!

Had it on my knees, elbows and behind the ears since 16. Recently I have noticed small patches appearing on the tip of my nose, my left eyelid and left eyebrow.

I have it on my scalp but have never dared to cut my hair short enough to see how bad it looks!

The first doctor I went to diagnosed it as Ringworm and in effect gave me useless treatments. I was then given Coaltar lotion but was never disciplined enough in applying it everyday.

I've gotten used to it being there (24 now) and this hasn't helped in me trying to get rid of it. I end up wearing long-sleeved tops or jumpers to keep it out of sight. I doubt the Freelance life helps with the stress aspect, plus the fact I smoke. Not really doing myself any favours!

I worked with a guy who had it and he mentioned a new orally taken drug that some doctors are trialling in England. I had a look online but I cannot find what he was on about.

I Appreciate everyone who has posted in here, for some people it's a very depressing condition I hope everyone will one day find a treatment that will work for you :)

I won't go to the hairdressers if my scalp is bad.. which then unfortunately seems to make it worse because my hair is longer. If I use Selsun for a couple of days it clears up nicely, as long as I haven't left it for months before I use it.

The doctor/dermo said that when using creams, even when it seems to have cleared up.. KEEP USING IT, otherwise it will come back with a vengeance. That's advice from my doctor about my daughters skin.. get your own advice :-)

I've had it for about 13 years now, mainly on the shins, knees, elbows, and earlobs. occasionally get it on my eyebrows for some reason too :/ I think working in air con offices isn't helping at all.

I was put on various steroid creams, dovonex being one, but they may ease it for a bit but I found it thinned the skin and occasionally had infections. Did try avoiding dairy at one point as someone said they knew someone who cured it that way. It did clear up slightly for a while but then came back. For the past 3 years I've been using Dream Cream from Lush, completely organic and seems to keep it steady rather than clear it, so no worse than the steroids used to. My GF suggested trying coconut oil and it does seem to be stopping it drying out as much as the lush cream does, will keep persevering.

About 10 years.
Scalp all over, behind right ear, inside both ears, knees and 2 blobs on my chest.
My magic cream is Dovobet which is excellent.

It's rubbish. Mercury compounds are not used in vaccinations in the UK.

Had it since I was at secondary school ~10 years now. Covered head to toe, from small 10 pence sized patches to larger hand sized patches. Only place I don't have it is my hands really. I get a little on my face, mostly on my eyebrows. Dovobet keeps it under control quite well though but if I don't use it for about a week it flares up and you'd think it had been snowing in my house.

Winter is an especially bad time for me. the combination of harsh weather and lack of sunlight really make it flare up. That's probably why I'm not too fond of Christmas.

I use a lotion on my scalp called Elocon. That seems to keep it at bay, I also rub this inside my ears as putting Dovobet in them makes them feel icky. Elocon has the consistency of water but smells quite strong so I only put it on at night about 2-3 times a week.

Takes me just over an hour to put my Dovobet and Elocon on.

I asked the hairdresser about it once, she said not to worry as she's seen people with it worse than me. As people rightly say, it's quite common.

I have it on my elbows only and it's a real confidence killer. Best thing I've found is palmers coco butter. It's great for stopping it look white and flakey!

I've got it on my head across the front hairline and as I work in the public and at times I get/notice people staring at it. Lucky for some people in this thread have hair to hide it, I'm slowly losing mine. :(

Unfortuantly I also have psoriatic arthritis also.

Can i ask people here how it was for some of the posters to find full time employment as I've finished my HNC a year ago now and can't get into anything to do with I.T.

Same as me, had two areas on my elbows about the size of a 50p piece and on the side of my knees. I say had since I've sorted one elbow out and the other is going by rubbing the areas until they were raw.

Sounds extreme but someone told me about it a year or so back. I had tried all sorts but it didn't work.

So I thought what the hell. Rubbed a small section on the edge until I literally removed the dead skin and it was raw and let it heal itself. Amazingly the area that healed up healed with perfect skin. Bit by bit over a few months I worked inwards and on one elbow I've ended up with completely unbroken skin on the area that was affected. It can be a little painful - almost like a graze or mini blister but it worked!

The masssaging was a bit like bulling a boot, small circular movements with the tips of two fingers.

I'm now convinced it isn't anything internal to the body it is something external that has broken through the skin and has irritated it causing the skin producing cells to go berserk and into overdrive, hence creating the flaking skin. Once the skin appeared to be sealed on my elbows the skin cells seem to calm down.

I wouldn't advocate the above on a face face but for my elbows it worked.

Obviously god is trying to punish you for your sins by making you an unclean scabby crust shedder!

Praise teh lawd!
