How good are orange ?

Been with them for 4 years now, no troubles what so ever, great customer service, whenever I've had a problem, I've got through to them quickly, they do good upgrade plans too.

Internet is fast, always get full 3G signal in my area.

Orange has 'magic numbers', where you can add an Orange number every 6 months and calls to that number becomes free. If you forget to add a magic number, you can just go into your online account and it'll tell you how many magic numbers you can add. Orange also has 'best plan review', where again every 6 months, you are analysed on phone/text/data usage and it suggests a new animal to you. Changeable every 6 months.

in my opinion they are crap. If you are anywhere that is slightly out of a city town, basically somewhere that isn't very populated the signal is terrible. I was with them last year and had this problem at that time one had a nokia, 3 blackberrys and one a sony ericsson and all had problems when in the countryside so the phones cant be blamed. Went back to vodaphone and its perfect. steer well clear in my opinion a few friends of mine have also had the same problem and changed since then to go to o2 or vodaphone. Its worth spending a bit more to at least get a reliable signal and be able to use the phone for what it was designed for. If your like my mum and dont ever leave your town or city you'll be alright though :)

edit: oops misread your question and cant really comment on 3g as i didnt use it with my last phone..

Ignore any and all comments about signal, it is entirely dependant on your location.

In my experience they are fairly good, nothing amazing, but no networks are.

With the T-Mobile share you'll be hard pressed to find anyone with better coverage overall though.

Orange I had complaints from lots of people about never being able to get through to me, including when I was in the centre of Birmingham and the surrounding areas... I would over 50% of the time just get a text saying you missed a call.. Even if when looking at my phone as someone next to me called and I had full signal.

Strangely so far on T mobile I haven't had this problem at all, even when using Oranges network..

I've been with Orange for ages, they, like most mobile operators have terrible customer service, and like someone else said, they can be expenseive on PAYG. I recently jumped ship for 3, they're offering some great contract deals at the moment

Totally disagree with you there i travel all over the country and vodaphone had coverage in almost any area including the most isolated locations not near any forms of residence. Even when they sharing of masts took place with t-mobile there was barely any difference hence me changing networks shortly after.

Vodafone and T-Mobile having a good signal? really?

I always thought Orange and O2 had the best signal coverage in the UK

Totally depends on your location.

Orange have by far the best signal where I live and full mobile data signal. Vodafone for example has little or no signal where I am, others are marginally more.

So yes, make sure you check what network coverage is best for you.

Orange perks are Orange Wednesday's, magic numbers and on their Panther plan you have Orange Swapables giving you services like Sky Sports TV and Deezer - like Spotify premium.

Disagree all you want, I doubt you've been EVERYWHERE.

I know lots of places with awful Vodafone coverage. :)

I like orange.

My one complaint which may be voodoo, is that it seems to take an age to get a connection on 3g compared to other networks. For example my other half's gs2 will consistently load up web pages faster on 3g than my gs2 on orange.

I pay and handle the mobile contracts at our home me wife daughter
and we are all on different providers
me O2 wife Orange Daughter Vodaphone
and in our Town Orange gets the best signal o2 and Voda are hopeless for the mobile internet
what I dont like about Orange is all the 'garbage' that comes pre installed on the phone from them saying Orange on everything, but it does not bother her so problem solved

I was going to get rid of Orange when my wife's phone needed upgrading but the retentions offered a totally fantastic deal on the SG2 which I could not refuse
that was 7 months ago and the deal they gave me is still very hard to beat now

so I cannot say anything wrong about Orange
