Drain cover, oil, wall! I think its a write off!!

That rare Porsche oil, not quite as common as S2000 oil though :D

I've had the back end of the S2000 out at sub 40 speeds before driving positively granny-like, just cannot be complacent or asleep in the crappy conditions.

Sucks but...new car time!

Well that's gutting, and an unfortunate series of events!

Drain covers are evil little sods, if they're not sending your ABS into a paddy as you're slowing down for junctions or traffic lights, they're trying to launch you off in different directions as you accelerate over them. I've had a few similar moments in the MX5, although nothing quite as frantic as this. It's just as well I find oversteer entertaining I guess!

Ive got a couple golfs, quite hard to spot something so common lol a black mk4, lowered, original wheels and a blue mk3

I'll keep an eye out for golfs waving at me. :p

I'm the only VX in dark(er) red in the Southend area. There is a brighter (almost orange) red that shows up in the summer.

I found that I couldn't stop myself from standing on the accelerator and the foot rest at the left which further added to the chaos (and I assume as I was blinded from the airbag) throwing the car back into the road and by the time I had come around from the shock of an airbag to the face, to a stop. With the engine still running.

Surprised the fuel wasn't cut after the initial impact

Looks like you was showing off to your friend and ran out of talent, for a 34mph crash you did many spins, mounted a kerb, knocked a wall down and a tree, hmmm k.

Guy on forum has accident, posts pictures, forum race car drivers post their thoughts on the incident. Standard.

Sorry to see your car in that state mate, I know the feeling all too well.

I take it you have protected NCB?

You'd be surprised how little speed you need to have to spin repeatedly and do a considerable amount of damage. Cars are heavy objects. Just sayin'.

Bit of oppp' lock and he'd have been fine.

Or shouldn't be driving over drain covers.

Etc etc

That is my point.

Thats human nature for you. It's just more visible on the internet. Every Monday morning millions of unfit obese men critically evalulate the performance of the weekends premiership football. Middle aged women do the same with people on X-Factors Got Dancing. Car enthusiasts do it with car purchases, car modifications and car accidents of others.

It has always been thus and always will be thus.

It's just made more interesting in internet car crash threads because 90% of the time the OP has an odd take on what really happened or ends up leaving out crucial detail, or posts pictures of a Ford Fiesta ripped into 19 seperate parts and says 'I was only doing 29mph on a completely straight road' :D

After driving an S2000 in the wet over slippy drain covers at the speed limit I can completely see how the OP would have smashed his up without intending to. But saying that I don't know how tail happy the OP's car is.

Ah but the OcUK car-squad have already rubbished those of us who claim that RWD cars require more care than FWD cars, so that cannot possibly be true. Infact many here claim that you are no more likely to crash a powerful RWD car than a Clio 1.2 :p

Ah right, but of course. Excuse me.
