Why are people on buses strange? Is this why they can't pass their driving test?

"How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways..."
by magnolia

How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways.
I hate thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I hate thee to the level of everyday's
Most quiet need, by sun and candle-light.
I hate thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I hate thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I hate thee with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I hate thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints, --- I hate thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life! --- and, if God choose,
I shall but hate thee better after death.

No he's right I use a bus to get to the radio studio I present in and I notice these people all the time too. This maybe because I live in Stoke On Trent though.

I commute via public transport, (with my eyesight you really don't want me driving), and I can't say I come across the majority of the types of people the OP has listed at all.

The majority of people I see look, and behave, normally and are reasonably polite to those around them. Sure you get irritating people sometimes, middle aged women normally being the worst, but most people are ok.

Maybe the people in question are just acting in that way in order to drive the OP away ...

OP - you live in a town in West Wales your sample of people you've observed on buses is therefore somewhat smaller and more restricted than other people's experiences on this forum.

I'd suspect that if you ventured further out and perhaps went to live in a big city you might find that various forms of public transport can be more efficient and practical than driving and walking isn't always appropriate (depending on the distance required to commute). Having said that I do prefer the tube/overground rail to London buses in general.

1) the woman who loves her cats/dog more than humans and publicly states this on the bus

2) the girl who has an empty cd walkman yet sings along to NOTHING playing

3) the guy who twitches constantly and continuously changes seat moving forward down the bus the closer he gets to his stop

4) the woman who is adamant she can carry over 20 shopping bags and doesn't realise she is physically hitting everyone in the face with her christmas presents whilst walking up the isle

5) the boy who cannot smell his BO because unfortunately the invention known as the shower has never crossed his path

6) the midday alcohol who tries to befriend everyone on the bus but doesn't realise that no one cares about him because he smells like he's been lying in a crate all night.

7) the sociopathic mother chav who screams and shouts at her child just being a child because apparently its the best way to get your kid to shut up when they should know from experience, this just makes the child CRY MORE!

8) the person who talks to themselves about how much they hate a certain thing in life when most other people on the bus DO NOT GIVE A FLYING ****.

9) The person who tells stories but you can just tell they're fabricated nonsense. They're at the level where they have lied so much that they have convinced themselves of their lies. Like the fat kid who apparently played football at youth level for a team like Chelsea FC.

Anyone else think bus passengers are absolute freaks?

err no, what i think is this is a bunch of people, just trying to get through the day, in whatever way possible. all the peeps you describe are our mothers/sisters/brothers/cousins.

i really like to see there point of view on you, possibly that your a arrogant, busy body who gets in the way with his walking stick, even though he has nothing wrong with him. but thinks he has such a perfect life in computer science, that everyone is below him.

maybe just once you might want to point that ever critical scientific eye on your self matey. :D

I have never been on a bus in my uni town. I drive now. The last time I used a bus was in 2008 when going to college. Never again! The people on there are insane. Im glad I'm not the only one thats noticed.
