Question for the Mods and closing threads

I do think if more comments were left, people would have a better idea of what is and isn't acceptable and will add to the existing rules. You should get less repeat offences.

They said a few months ago that they'd do what you are asking, but apparently they've forgotten.

I remember this also, so at one point the moderation team must have thought it was a good idea also, what's annoying is announcing such things then not following it through, obviously a reason as to why a thread is closed can't be left all the time but a majority at least.

More often than not, it's blindly obvious why a thread was closed. Also there are sometimes reasons that aren't suitable for the forum to know, that is often why the threads go "missing" as they're moved into a quarantine area that you don't have access to. We shouldn't have to explain those either as there could be a multitude of reasons - of which some of the posts within the thread break forum rules.

That was a rather convoluted way of saying absolutely nothing of substance. :D

If it's all about doing the okey-cokey, it's definitely not about being a mod.

Put your left thread in
your left thread out

In
out
in
out
mark it all about.
Do the moderation and you turn around

That's what it's all about........

I don't know why people get uppity about how these forums are moderated - it's not like you HAVE to post here is it?

If you don't like the way it's moderated then toodle pip!

Haha, that had a spectacular British finale.

"If you don't like it, then, by golly, I say you can go right over there and toodle pip! Toodle pip I say!"

Dons.

I'd like to know the reason the train thread was closed, I don't mind but I just wondered what your line of thinking was?

A response would be appreciated (instead of a ban :p).

I think because it just turned out to be another AberwristwythLad (I don't think I can spell that) thread full of spam and then people attacking him, regardless of whether he was asking for it or not. My take on it was that the thread was going nowhere.

The thread had run it's course and was getting circular with bickering from a couple of members. It had also got to a 'stalemate' stage, tempers were getting frayed and frankly I think (personally) the debate had passed. It was covering the same ground, and wasn't really achieving anything.

I guess with that one it just turned out to be a Biohazard and Al Vallario argument?

No worries, thanks for answering! :)

Then state it! whats the issue? I really don't understand why dons can't quickly put a reason, and dont say its time because dons clearly read the forums to make a decision to close a thread so it takes what? 15 seconds to reply and close?

:/

If at the time we don't have time to post then suck it up and get on with it.

You're right! Such a grievous mistake to make.

I shall go and berate all the dons for being naughty boys. :/

Seriously, is it such a big issue? By the time someone has the time to go back to it, it'll be several pages deep, and by posting we just bump the thread again, is there an issue?

If anything it should be the OP that should have an issue with the closed thread - I've received many emails from them in the past asking for clarification, and voila! Problem solved.

We're not automatic machine-drive, programmed entities - having to cover 100s of RTMs daily, you're not always going to have the chance to post a succinct reason.

Furthermore, if we said "closed owing to breaking forum rules" - I can gurantee you that people (like you) will want to know more reasons...
