**The Official Nokia Lumia 800 Thread***

so no one lese has any problems with mobile not wanting to wake up ??

I had this twice within the first week of getting my replacement, hasn't happened since. The only way I could get it to wake up was to do a three button reset, vol down power and camera I think it was. It didn't wipe the phone though as I thought it might.

To the T-M bandwidth query - this is because the majority of their infrastructure is limited to 1.8Mbps, their HSPA+ sites are the linked sites with Three and they are more rare. Don't worry too much about it tbh, over time it will get better.

Ok, thats reassuring to hear. My brain is still going back and forth between staying with T Mob or moving to 3, but Im sure that T Mobile will continue to improve their 3G, and hopefully also offer more data in the future.

Does anyone know if the phone supports tethering yet? Either current ones out of the box or with the latest software update?

What is everyones battery life like at the moment? My phone has the latest patch but the battery life is appalling, im struggling to see a whole day without charging! I'm using it exactly the same way as I use my iPhone so its not like im doing anything out of the ordinary!

Mines still unpatched. However, I am easily getting around a day from mine at the moment but I do have 3G turned off at the moment. I have 3 email accounts configured on the handset 2 of which are set to push and the other is set to check every hour or so. Other then that I use the phone normal like I did with my Arc.

Mine is patched, but even before I could easily get to more than a day while having pushes on two e-mail accounts, occasional gaming, map-browsing etc. I'm abroad now so I've practically got this on battery saver all the time(no apps functioning) time since last charge 2 days 1 hour and still got 11 hours left. It would have even more if I hadn't played a game a while earlier though. This must've been from one of the badges that had normally functioning batteries.

I headed back to Phone4U slightly hung over (works Christmas party yesterday evening...) this afternoon to explain my battery concerns, the P4U staff didn't really want to know but the Nokia rep was in store and we sat down and had a chat, he checked the Diagnostics menu (##634# on the dialer) for the battery capacity and it was ~980mAh, apparently there is a software bug on certain Lumia's which limits their battery capacity.

After some persuading, P4U swapped out the phone for a brand new (black) Lumia 800. This time the battery is reporting ~1520mAh and I'm installing the latest NOKIA update as I type this, hopefully it improves the battery life considerably! I'll report back :)

do carriers test the updates? I had to dodgly flash my 5800 as tmobile stopped doing fw updates along time ago. Had customisation too :-(
was 4 versions behind before I flashed it :-(

might get one from buymobilephones, they seem to have the best deals

My phone has come out of the box with 1600.2479.7740.11451, that will be why I can't see an update! It must have been manufactured in the last week or two to have that already loaded.

Does yours have the following build details:

Carrier ID: CV UK SW variant ID222 v.02
OS version: 7.10.7740.16
Firmware revision number: 1600.2475.7720.11414 -other than this one?
Hardware revision number: 112.1402.2.3
Radio software version: 1.6.00.24
Radio hardware version: 8255
Bootloader version: 7.35.0.0
Chip SOC version 0.74.2.1

:D

"On Monday 12th December some of our customers started to comment in various social media that the preloaded diagnostics tool in some of the Nokia Lumia 800 phones was showing lower battery capacity than expected. We immediately started to investigate these reports and can now confirm that while the battery itself is fine, a software problem on certain variants is limiting the phone’s ability to access the full battery capacity. We want to stress that this issue has not been found to affect the recently introduced Nokia Lumia 710.

The good news is that as this is a software problem it can be easily resolved. The planned software update in early 2012, as well as including many performance enhancements, will also include a fix that will enable the affected phones to access the total battery capacity. For anyone who does not want to wait for the software update, Nokia can arrange for a replacement phone. Anyone who requires any further clarification should contact Nokia Care (Care contact details and locations can be found at www.Nokia.com/support).

Anyone who wants to know if their phone is affected can run the battery status test from the diagnostics tool already installed on their phone. (The tool is designed for service use and only displays approximate values.) Dialling ##634# opens the diagnostics tool. By accepting the disclaimer and then selecting ‘Battery Status’ from the list of options, anyone will be able to see their available battery charge capacity. If your full charge capacity reads less than 1000 mAh then your phone is affected with this specific issue and you may find it is necessary to charge your phone more frequently than normal. Once the software update has been applied, you should experience much better battery life. In the meantime here are some tips on how to increase your battery performance and you should also make sure you are using the charger that came with the phone, as older chargers may not be as effective at charging the new Nokia Lumia 800."

Hmmmm still no update for the handset. I spoke to Nokia today and my product ID isn't on the update server yet, so that's the reason behind no update. I have been told to wait a week and go from there :(

It should be. We done that one ages ago. Although we aren't the ones that put them on the server. That's M$ probably.
