*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Only thing making it worse re-rolling is playing through the same character story again.

Makes me slightly annoyed that all AC's have the same story as their mainline (example: Sentinel and Guardian have the same Jedi Knight story) as it reduces re-playability slightly. I wanted to do a Guardian as well as a sentinel and whilst I enjoy the story a lot the same story might get a little tiring.

Can see your point about replaying the same story shortly after having done it, maybe do one light one dark, male/female for the different voices too? only things I can suggest really.

For me it is nowhere near as polished as WoW (which lets face it IS the main competition/comparisson) it has graphical issues, numerous UI issues, sound issues, guild issues and other personal points of annoyance which I won't go into.

Despite this I think the game is fantastic! The stories, the crew skills, the companions, the difficulty, the grouping aspect and other things are all unique and give the game an edge on all others. All the issues that I have labelled have been pretty much acknowledged by BW, which is a good start as they are not blindly claiming to be putting out a perfect product, and they have stated that these issues will all be sorted over the near future patches. Additionally the issues are annoyances rather than gamebreakers, there is nothing inherently wrong with the game (IMO) which makes it unplayable.

Lastabillity? I haven't seen endgame yet. They have gimped world pvp by instancing which is a shame. There is only 1 or 2 operations (essentially raids) and a few higher level flashpoints. However with there being 8 unique stories to the game that is a massive amount of replayabilty just there. BW have also said there will be "regular" content updates though it remains to be seen what "regular" amounts to. Personally I think the fact that it is so story driven will jar with an endgame grind and I will find it interesting to see how this pans out.

Overall its a fantastic game and well worth buying, it will be in the market for a long time to come and has potential to be a great game if developed right!

I think I may get it if enough of my friends get it. Have numbers been released about how many players they have yet? I like the idea of playing on PVP server if they exist. :)

People saying they've put a lot of time in their char is just laughable. How many hours have you actually put in? 20? 30? This is nothing for a character in a MMO, that's my opinion anyway :o

I think some of us have put considerable time in though - enough to not warrant starting again, there is no way I would want to repeat the 91hours40minutes i've put into my main... baring in mind I have Level 11 and Level 18 alts also - far to much to move servers.

Apparently they are up to around 2 million players worldwide which is bloody good, as it catches on the game will get bigger and bigger. Im almost level 40 on my bounty hunter tank and love it, met some great people as well and really enjoy grouping.

Elite/Champion mobs actually are tough regardless. I went back to a lower level area to finish off the heroic quests while i had no trouble killing things because they were grey to me the champions still took forever to kill.

What they need to aim for is retention, almost every major MMO released lately has had a userbase explode up in numbers at release. Its once the first 30 days are up, sometimes once the first paid month has gone by, that the numbers plummet as people leave. As with all MMOs, its retaining the players after the initial honeymoon period has run out that is the target rather than the initial surge, thats got to be what they need to aim for.

91 hours, epic m8!

Awww crap.

Pre-ordered from Sainsbury's Entertainment and today they sent me an email saying it's out of stock & they're trying all they can to get the game to me.

Missus got her staff discount & a 1st time buyer discount so it was about £23.

Arse!

Means I can't play after tomorrow until the game arrives which could be weeks.

well but over the lifetime of the mmo 91 hours still ain't that much though is it? ;)

and here i would pull my old abandoned eq2 main char but they changed the site :D

anyway some people seem to have the attitude here that anyone else should move but them because they have put in way too much time, which really isn't true because the game hasnt been out for that long. Regarding the class story and not playing again, i probably agree since i haven't played a mmo with such a deep story before

No - but it's enough to not warrant a server move... for me at least.

everyone will have their own judgement :)

i won't be moving servers either but i'm not bothered at all with the queues, i've played too many mmo's on release to know what it's like in the first couple of weeks :p

edit: queues have shrinked today, only 500 or so on frostclaw :D
