Alan Hansen uses racist language on live TV

This really is getting stupid, and why is Collymore putting fuel on the fire? He's not exactly a role model himself with his penchant for physically attacking women. Collymore has always been a cowardly, cry baby sap imo! and this brown nosing to the PC brigade pretty much reaffirms my opinion of him! ****! :mad:

I think you're all being incredibly harsh on Stan. He is such a nice, caring, charismatic guy.

One of my favourite memories as a teenager involves a Stan Collymore goal against West Ham after he surged into the box and slammed home a clinical finish. I remember him running along the stand infront of me, kissing his Liverpool badge. I remember the sight of a paper cup flying through the air, I remember the impact as it hit him square in the face covering him with some sort of fizzy drink. That'll teach you to taunt fans, you *******.

I heard this last night and winced as he said it, would never offend me. But in this day and age you just have to be ultra careful. Hopefully be forgotten pretty quickly with christmas round the corner and lots of football on tv

Anyone care to try? How do you refer to the fact there are lots of black players playing in the premiership with no racism problem at all, without referring to the fact they are black?

That said however I do think this has been blown out of proportion by band wagoneers. Hansen has never given any indication of being racist, the context he has used it in is more to do with a poor understanding of the currently accepted correct words and that is something just about anyone can fall foul of when there is so much focus on an issue.

There are many players of many ethnicities playing in modern football, even here in the UK

Personally I would have said that there's more Negro's in the teams now but then im from a part of the UK where that's still acceptable because the PC brigade haven't yet told the blacks their supposed to find it offensive.

A quick Google seems to show Stan Collymore has been trying to play the race card for years (as far back at 1998).
