*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

You should have all subbed yesterday or earlier :p. I did it yesterday without issue.

Totally irrelevant, it doesn't excuse the fact that:

1. Their site should be able to stand heavy traffic without shutting down

2. They should have anticipated this but didn't

Poor show.

A lot of modern MMOs are implementing this system. I don't get the big deal, just cancel it before the 30 free days are up if you don't want to continue the sub.

Its ridiculous. I have 30 days to play the game, and I have within that time to set up a subscription.

I shouldn't be stopped access until I do enter a subscription.

It wasn't advertised as "you get 30 days free with the game AFTER you have set up a subscription".

So technically, they are breaking the UK law.

It's not completely irrelevant though is it? People with EGA have had a few days to get it sorted now and should really have done so earlier rather than leaving it to the last minute.

Not a good enough excuse tbh. I redeemed my code but nowhere obvious did it state you had to have an active card sub of else you wouldn't be able to play so I didn't bother.

Not a problem if they left the subscription open for the period of the free month, or alternatively put two and two together and realised there would be a mass of traffic and reduce the rest of the websites services for a few days to compensate. They did neither!

It shouldn't even be needed in the first place though, which is why it's even more farcical.

It wasn't made abundantly clear until now anyway.

Edit: it seems to be working now...

Works now. Sorted. :)

NO MMOs let you play the 30days free before you sub.

There was a part on their site that had huge tickboxes of what you had to do to be set for the actual launch of the game. I believe it was in your account somewhere. I read in a few places other than that also that you'd need a sub by the 22nd.

True their site should be able to withstand the traffic but they warned you not to leave it to the last minute ;P

I've not done mine yet :p

But the people being annoyed about setting up the payment thing, completely normal for an MMO. Thankfully managed to nab some cheap timecards :)

This again is utter rubbish, just to name a few of the recent ones, AoC, DC, WaR, lotor, you played your first 30 days then you had to enter your details. this is just another penny pinching move, they know that often people once subscribed less chance they cancel.

One other thing I looked at the the conditions when I bought this game no where that I can see does it say IF YOU DON'T SUPPLY YOUR PAYMENT DETAILS YOU FORFEIT YOUR FREE ALREADY PAID FOR 30 DAYS!

If you only played wow, does not mean you know what all mmo do!!

I agree that really you shouldn't have to subscribe because you get 30 days with the game.

When I logged into the my account section it had a "Ready to play?" check list of things to do, and after entering the product code it had subscription listed so really everyone should have seen that.

Considering the queues in game and the queues in the past on the site people should have realised that leaving it till after the grace period to set up the subscription would be a bad idea :p

You do realise that money is not taken out until the free 30 days are over...the amount of people that wine is ridiculous.. if you don't like it, don't play
