Anyone that used to skateboard in the past and ended up quitting for whatever reason. Do you ever feel like you are missing out and that you would love to get back to skating to relive the good old days?

Every time I come across a half decent skate video on youtube etc I really want to go outside and skate even though I don't have a board any longer.

It's actually getting to the stage that I'm thinking of getting a new setup for next year and heading up to the new skatepark they've built in Belfast.

I think I'll always be a skater at heart, no matter how sappy, retarded etc it sounds :D

skateboarding is hard and unless you live in america whats teh point>?

Someone hasn't had the joy of skateboarding then!

Watched a couple of the Flip videos at my mates house a couple of weeks ago and really wanted to crack out the skateboard again. Didn't know where I put it though! :(

Yea, sometimes I think I want to do it again. Then I realise that my time for it has been and gone, was quite good at one point though!

I don't skate but I wouldn't call it daft. If you enjoy it and it doesn't affect anybody else negatively - go for it. You're probably going to injure yourself a fair bit in a lengthy skating career though! :p

Who said anything about a career? :p

I dare say you are right though, especially as you get older/haven't skated for a while.

I've been watching loads of videos over the last few weeks. I have this year discovered mtb, with the aptly named 'Croft Trail' and 'Croft Woods' nearby, and that has kept me occupied. I do feel a massive urge to skate though, and watching the videos has seen me arrange a session for the next week to injure myself again. Looking forward to it!

I also thought this after watching some old Rodney Mullen videos the other month. Went outside with my board (which I hadn't used for about 7 years), tried to olly and ended up twisting my ankle. I came to the conclusion I'm too old for this stuff now :(.

Mid life crisis?

Actually whilst not with skating, I used to swim obsessively and often have cravings to get back in the pool. NY resolution 2012 tbh...

Used to love it when i was younger, seen some amazing video's and would love to do it again but these days i dont think my body would handle it!!

I feel bad for skateboarders. It's a really hard thing to do and kids spend hours trying to do it. After many moons you may be able to pull off a simple jump and only fall off 50% of the time.

Basically, unless you are pro-standard, it looks absolutely rubbish.

I used to when I was 14-17. Loved every second of it, until I grew out of it. And yes I would love to get on the old board again, but I don't know anyone who does it anymore.

That's all I did when I finished school. Now I just finish work and come on the computer or go to the pub. I miss the freedom of it all, and an excuse to get out of the house.

I used to skate for 2-3 years in Hereford while at school also. It was a crap area for it though. Used to head down on the train to Newport skatepark which was a total dump or Bristol

I keep on getting the urge to try it again but I think I would feel like a tool.

We have a whole new skatepark now, which Pritchard & Dainton off Dirty Sanchez skate quite a lot, and is quite popular afaik.

But this has happened since I stopped skating.

When I see skateboarding now I am so glad I gave it up after a year, such a daft thing to do, akin to using a yoyo.

you could say the same about any sport..

you're an annoying type of person, who shouldnt really be posting in this thread..

im not a skater and ive never tried to get into it, ive always been into bmx but have been off the bike for a year now, but i get the same feeling, about wanting it ride it again, might go out over the holidays
