Those that used to skateboard

Not so much skating, but I keep my BMX in tip top condition, even though I have not ridden it for the last five years.

One day.........................

I used to skate a little but I loved to surf so I know where you're coming from. Still have my old board in the garden shed where it's sat undisturbed for about 6 years now. I can't bring myself to sell it. It's a beautiful 6' 1" thruster and I will treasure it forever! :)

I do miss both and I can sometimes be found trawling YouTube for cool vids + I buy the occassional DVD. But I'm unlikely to ever step foot on either again :(

late fortys here and still miss it ,i had the pleasure of the first wave of skateboarding in this country ,the buzz going on was massive ,you have to remember that nobody stayed in in those days ,remember spending £30 on a set of kryptonics ,add in a decent deck gullwing trucks and skf race bearings and your talking £500 in todays money.
still have a sneaky go at the local skate park ,its a shame its not seen as a sport for adults

surfing keeps me going though :)

I have a small collection of my boards from that kind of era, three santa monica airlines (my modern board is an SMA too), PP lance mountain, PP cab, alva, vision psycho stick and a few others. Gullwings, trackers and indys on em, slimeballs, OJIIs etc!

I used to over 15 years ago. Miss it sometimes as I remember it being great fun... don't miss the injuries, or the frustration of hitting cracks in the road and being flung off it.

I used to skateboard, but couldn't do anything on it I just rode it up and down the street outside my house ;D

I've got an almost brand new deck in the garage, but I am a bit heavier and older now that I think it's too late for me to go back and try again. Seems a bit embarrassing when all my other mates are still doing it and are really good at it.

The only thing skate about me now is I wear only skater shoes. I have a pair of etnies and two pairs of DCs. I wear them because they are the only type of trainer that is actually comfortable because i have size 11 extra wide feet, and the designs are really simple and nice. Sports trainers look disgusting to me.

Normally paddleboard in the summer months, late this summer I picked up a 44" longboard/skateboard & a kahuna big stick, so landboarding in the winter months.

Great fun & no major accidents yet!

Cheers

I skated from about the age of 13 all the way through to 17, I moved to the other side of England and left all of my skateboarding friends behind so I slowly stopped skating altogether. Biggest mistake of my life as I was always happiest when I was just ripping it up with friends at a skate park or a juicy street spot.

I think I'm going to try get back into it, I wouldn't say I'm too old to try (Only 21) so I think it's now or never to be honest! Still got a brand new "Girl" setup I've barely used just waiting to be skated!

Resolution 2012!

Haven't skated since I was 18 (had a quick bash at the harpenden ramp since moving down here but that was one day on my very ruined board).

Would love to crack it out again, nothing beat going down the hills round where I grew up as fast as I could, missing random country traffic or messing about in town a little bit older with a few mates trying to get some balance and learn a few flip ticks (could do a few at my peak). Was terrible on a mini ramp though with 0 balance.

OCuk skate meet? Never had a bash in NI as it was always too wet ;) but would love to give it another go now I'm back over here (just need a wide enough board)
