6950 - Was I expecting way too much OR do I have a problem??

It may help us and you if you can download heaven 2.5 benchmark program and run it. then post your score after running it. Just for your reference i get a score of around 1030 but that is on a 6950 with the extra unlocked shaders and i have a I7 920 overclocked to 3.8 so my score will be a bit higher than you will get (i also have 1920 x 1080 which will make a difference).

With a Q6600 you will be CPU limited, a fair amount in 64 player BF3. So in the busy scenes with lots of players running about and lots of buildings getting blown up, you'll be at the same fps as the 4870, perhaps a lil more.

Just what I didn't want to hear, only tried on servers with 2-5 people so far while messing about with settings!!

Why are you unhappy with 60fps? you are probably at the limit of the Q6600 but BF3 plays very well at that fps and you can crank up the details too.

What were you expecting?

Here are my results from heaven using the defaultsettings at 1680 x 1050 resolution. I am not sure how much your "old cpu" will effect the results.

On high i'm not unhappy with that at all, its just the fact that its stuck on all of them like that even with vsync off, probably more so with other games don't seem any better either

I run BF3 on Ultra at a steady 70fps easily. Ive got the 6950 Toxic.

Chec the Engine Control Centre....it used to be called the Catalyst Control Centre hence the CCC....people should call it the ECC now i guess. (to do this righ click desktop and it will be your first option on the list.

On the left hand side there is a tab called "Gaming"...click it.

This will open a list of options where you can turn off vsync and AA etc....just have a look see what settings these are on. vSYNC will make you have constant 60fps.

Wow your single 6950 runs the game faster than my 6970 crossfire.

Well if you're at 60fps on high it's probably the CPU / platform especially in BF3. My Q6600 struggled to get above 42fps average in the big multiplayer maps even @ 3.6Ghz

I have tried putting it up, tried med & high too, no diff.

It was on LOW to start because thats all i could get out of 4870.

Hi,

Same thing happend to me. No matter what RES/Settings/Windowed or FS all i could get was 30-40 fps. Turns out the CPU (and probably mobo) was bottlenecking the card(s).

I probably should be happy with the bf3 fps at 50-60 then

Like I say, its just the other games, Black ops isn't overly demanding and still not higher

Well those results look fine to me. I think it may be, as others have said, your Q6600 is not up to the job anymore. Can you overclock it any further?
