How I kept calm I'm not sure...

Yeah, that was almost WOT (90%, going to WOT requires almost a kickdown-like push) through 1st and 2nd but short shifting like a granny.

Sounds good though, doesn't it ;)

Watching that bit of the video again reminded me of just how slow he turned off the main road. ****.

The guy in the CTR was clearly goading you as can be seen from the final right turn. What sort of speeds were you doing when you went for the overtake?

Under 40, not sure exactly how much under 40 though.

That final turn in by the CTR was quite clearly to entice you to make the turn also and have a "race".

Given his actions, he clearly enjoys this kind of action on public roads. Considering he started off by pulling out of the junction when you were far away and continued with his slow pace. He knew exactly what his motivation was once he left that first junction.

Does sound very nice I must say. When I seen your sig of the mercedes I was a little confused as to what the noise was.

DRZ, as you know I've been in the same situation as that with a similar tool.

I overtook him coming off a 2 lane roundabout, he hurtled back past me at at least double the speed limit further down the dual carriageway.

We both turned off, I caught him up at some traffic lights and he did the whole "dawdle along at 30 ish" routine, as soon as I went to overtake he nailed it and I backed out.

He slowed back to about half the speed limit again so I went for a second bite at the cherry, and this time the other driver accelerated, moved to the middle of the road, and then did an emergency stop. I'm still not quite sure how I managed not to hit him but it involved me eventually stopping at a 45 degree angle in the middle of the road.

Like you, I bailed out and left him to it. Some people are best left to their own devices on the roads.

Would it be worth notifying the police about this? You have good clear evidence of the car, his number plate and that he was driving dangerously (read: being a smack-tard!).

Kudo's for not being drawn into anything with him though :)

What? In now way does this correlate at all.

The street leading to my home is unlit. Have I been a terrible driver all my life by not having full beams on everytime I come down this road?

You seem to have something wrong with your skull.

It's not about knowing the road, it's about things on the road which you cannot see on dipped beams.

What a tool. Both the CTR driver and rossk26 for not wanting to see what's ahead of him.

Having a camera rolling all the time sounds like a good idea these days...

How can't I see ahead of me? My headlights give me excellent head up light. All high beams offer IMO is seeing things above the level of the dipped beams.

As a fact which is interesting and I would like to hear the views of everyone in regards to this. A MK1 focus when the main beam is activated turns off the dipped beam to produce the high beam, this resulting in no light for the first 50 yards or so? Safe? I think not.

You can see some stuff, but apparently you prefer not to know about the rest of the road, which you could see if you had enough driving prowess to be able to turn, AND control a switch.

Honestly stop being a retard! High beam is used to see what is ahead of you on the road, whether it's a deer standing in the middle of the road or the large hole that wasn't there the night before.

I would rather have that extra breaking distance given to me by using high beams over dipped beams.

Excellent. I thought it had gone quiet but no, it seems now he's here to accuse Ford of producing a dangerous car :D

Would you agree?

Or would you suggest that drivers of the Mk1 focus used their high beams when on until roads? Sacrificing their dipped headlight view (leagal requirement when driving at night) for the high beam view...

I'm interested to see your view on this one Fox :)
