my OCZ 90GB Vertex 2 SSD as dead i think

hi

my OCZ 90GB Vertex 2 SSD is not being detected in the bios when i switched the system on today. theres a light on the ssd which is half red half green. i've tryed a different power cable and sata but still the same.

anyone got any ideas?

i've have it for about 13 months

if it has dead is it best to get a OCZ Agility 3 120GB or another OCZ Vertex 2?

Sounds like another unreliable and dead OCZ SSD to be honest. I'd get a Crucial M4. They are also a good price on OCuK compared to elsewhere at the moment.

I recently had this happen to a 60G Vertex2 after just a months use but the drive was bought a year ago a bad batch perhaps? OCZ Given a RMA but I've bought a M4 as a replacement and most likely will sell the RMA replacement unless they are more reliable now.

Yea yea.. nevermind its an older one that dosen't really have any sort of reputation for instability like the current '3' series drives. I've got a few Vertex/Vertex 2E drives and about 50 in the wild via clients pcs, and a few 60gb at work in the mini books, had about.. oh wait.. none have died or had issues. Any 3 series i'd be leary about, but the Vertex 2 is decent. Op, i'd RMA the drive. If you need one now, i'd get an M4 yes.

do the OCZ Agility 3/Vertex 3 have the same issue? if so i'll get the M4 but it's abit more than i wanted to pay really

I too use several SSD's. The only ones I have had fail are two Vertex 2 drives. Both fail to be detected in the bios, if you search google for "vertex 2 not detected" there is more than enough people that have had that problem. Around the drives release there were 100's of people complaining on OCZ's forum.

So far I have not had an M4 fail or the single Agility 3 I am using. I also have an old Vertex Plus that is going strong.
