*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Anyone remember wow in its early days?

Time people, give it some

i do and it atleast had the mmo, i remember other mmos at the start to and most of them had all the core parts in place at the start , bugs are easy to fix, adding whats not already there especially stuff thats likely limited by the engine is almost impossible to change

I am loving it, JK is extremly hard to play and challenging against elites, but so much fun and the immersion is immense.

I'm not sure what game you are playing, but this does have quite extensive and very clear MMO elements?

Sure, it's not quite as MMO focused as some other MMO's but there are plenty of group things to do and you can easily play with other people. There is also no shortage of people around, so what more do you want?

Bioware will have to listen to people and take in suggestions as I said; otherwise they shouldn't have made a game like this.

a lot of things need to change, quite a few bugs.
Modifications don't make sense with their requirements ; Requires lightside I and above, I'm lightside II and can't equip it, yet I can equip something which says requires darkside I and above. Clearly the wrong way around.

Not seen that happen yet, very odd!!

Really regretting rolling Republic atm, the Immortals crew are great, but everytime I jump in on a Warzone with a PUG the Empire side seems so organised and the Republic peeps are running around like headless Banthas! :(

I was really thinking most of the kiddies etc.. would be rolling Empire to be a "badass sith y0" but it seems they all wanted to be heroes instead, bit like WoW with all the Kiddies playing alliance.

Damnit!

erm got that wrong its because they kids they winning for now in PvP, also seesm the Imps have a shed load more level 50's than we do. This will change, and I would say 7/10 times when I do pvp with guild guys we win, if you having problems join into guild pvp groups, there is almost always one going.

The beta was bug free in the weekend test upto level 30 but I have came across some annoying bugs that really should not have made it into this phase of the game.

The game seems fairly polishes but really falls down on simple things like, exiting your speeder and your companion automatically dismissess itself, this is so annoying and game breaking when taking on level 40's etc and its totally hit and miss whether they automatically summon or not.

The sell trash to vendor, this is a main feature of the companions and IT DOESNT WORK! So many times Im have been inside an instance only to have my bag fill up because my companion just doesnt performt he action despite sending them... Major bugs that should be fixed as they are used so much so I cant understand how they have made it into the live game...

Lightsabers not appearing in cinematics, truely destroys the immersion and its massively apparent and happens so much its like how did they have so many people play through, report this and not fix it.

I can understand bugs that are off the beaten track but the game should really be pretty flawless especially along the linear path it seems to follow with class quests etc.

Still enjoying it so far but those bugs get really annoying!

Edit - the tab targeting needs improvement for whats viewable on your screen, also the mouse cursor hides itself whenever you alt + tab or I think it also does it sometimes when coming out of cinematic/convo. This type of things really should not be problems at all!

Example of a problem I can persist with is the green lights which I think are due to my dates gfx drivers with my Nvidia 570 GTX

At the end of the day mmo's have moved on.

What has wow changed into?
Log on join que make a cupa come back get tokens log off.. Now you can do the same for raiding. Heck look what wow did to pvp with areans...

The difference in war and tor is combat system in war was shocking, I could not enjoy it after 5mins and got bored.

Yes tor is a little to much instant for my liking but I enjoy the combat and story.

Can't say i've ever noticed that, you sure your not reading it wrong as there is 2 types of that requirement. Theres the requires light/dark of X level or above and theres forbidden to light/dark of x or above.

Like red colour crystals (mostly) are forbidden to light 1 or higher while the relics on the light side vendor simply require at least light 1+ depending on level of the relic.

Had this happen a couple of times, if you dismiss the companion then open the crew skills window and click the sell junk items button next to the companion you just dismissed they should go and sell the items and return to you as if it had worked properly, but yea hopefully it gets fixed soon.

A lot of people that are facing interface bugs should realise its down to issues with the various memory leaks within the game.

I've had the sell junk bug with the companion loads and a quick log out and log in and that fixed it. (Not exit)

A lot of the issues with the game can be fixed with a quick complete client close and open again, but i do realise that isn't possible with the queue's.

So before you start raging, give it a little more credit. There are tons of memory leaks and some other big bugs in this game, what boggles my mind is how the beta testers never spotted these. I guess the vast majority of beta testers just enjoyed a fee game, rather then actually test the game.

Dropped Underpants Trading for Slicing to see what the fuss is about... and I'm not seeing anything stupidly over the top? I mean missions for lock boxes take 30+ mins and they'll come back with about 3k - 8k, and the mission itself cost about 1.7k.

Aside from one complete game lockup in Voidstar (where task manager showed ToR using over 3gb of memory) since release and part of Taris (not sure if it was the same part that caused a lot of trouble for people) being a bit stuttery in the beta weekends i haven't really noticed these memory leaks.

Probably explains the lack of them being fixed if not everyone gets it.

Oh and one thing i've noticed with all beta testing for any big game (mmo or otherwise) is never assume that obvious bugs weren't reported. Devs have only so much time to fix things (assuming they can find the cause in the first place). Sucks when blatant bugs remain from betas but until computers start programming themselves theres not much we can do about it.

Think thats the point, you get free credits while the other mission skills may or may not actually give you something you wanted/needed/that'll sell on the GTN. With slicing you either get a profit (no matter how small) or the mission fails and you get a loss easily recovered by another mission. Wether or not slicing is as economy breaking as the forumsquad claims is open for debate really.

I would like it if you got x amount of light or dark then you could faction change across by doing q quest.

Would only let it be done once, so you switch from republic to imp but can never switch back, but I think it would be a fun story feature!

Something for the future hopefully. :)

I have biochem, bioanalysis and diplomacy - diplomacy seems completely useless tbh, so will probably swap for slicing when I get online tomorrow evening. Like G-Man says, while that isn't the millions that some have claimed, it still works out at free credits and more than most other methods of acquiring them in the game.
