Most underrated games of 2011?

Anno 2070, the reason it doesn't get the attention it deserves is because it actually requires brain matter to play, and that is beyond the majority of gamers these days unfortunately...:(

Dragon Age 2 for me, seems to have been slated on forums etc but having played it immediately after DA and the expansion, I think it is a good game when judged on merit. Suffered a bit from the classic gaming problem of having to follow a classic and getting panned due to being worse than the original, same as Deus Ex: The Invisible War, despite the fact that it's actually a decent game.

I think there was definitely a factor of it "being cool" to group together with everyone else to hate it. Imo, however, even standing by itself it was a pretty shocking game tbh. There are definitely worse out there though! Plus, few of the games rated as "0" on Metacritic ever actually deserve the rating.

Well not entirely i just thought compared to some other major releases this year it should have got more recognition like compare Skyrim sales to Witcher 2....is pretty big difference.(of course Skyrim is a brilliant game aswell)

It is certainly one that gets overlooked by a lot of people, but I think there are titles much more underrated than The Witcher 2. It is a very good game though

True enough, I miss games like Starfleet Command that actually had a tonne of depth and tactic to them. The minimal popularity Anno receives just goes to show where the majority of gamers are now. A shame too, because Anno is fantastic - luckily it sells incredibly well in Germany (must be practicing their efficiency :p), so with a bit of luck we see many more games in the series. It can be a bit slow too, which again probably goes against the majority of gamers these days.

Serious Sam 3: BFE

Good shout.

Section 8 could have done without GFWL IMO, no multiplayer game on the PC will be taken seriously with that as its multiplayer front end surely?
It works fine way too many people jump on the hate bandwagon I own almost every GFWL title they all work perfectly for me :D GFWL is going away anyway MS are now making Windows 8 have native GFWL embedded & calling it Xbox Live For Windows (which is an even worse name  ) MS are going to try & force publishers to make their 360 games run on PC via Windows 8 to control PC gaming in about 2-3 years  which is a bad idea but if they get the publishers onboard the PC will have even less exclusives as most multiplatform games will be virtually identical to the 360 version just running on PC via emulation which I presume means Windows 8 will download the files to run the game on PC to limit piracy. Not looking forward to it as MS still have a lot of clout with publishers so anytime they try to take control of something you just now its not going to be a happy time for the hardcore gamers when you look at how little effort they are putting into their 360 console exclusive or hardcore gamer games you just know the PC will fare even worse

Section 8 Prejudice is like Halo 3 on PC but better & still has active MP if you look at US timezones ;)

Dead Island, many turned their noses up at it, squeezed over 40 hours of game time out of it, loved every second.

Anno 2070 - barely heard anything of it in the media and very little hype (probably overshadowed by Skyrim and TOR), but it is one of the best city building games out there imo.

Been very tempted to get this. Hadn't heard much about it until very recently and it looks great. Just the type of base building game I've been looking for! :) Is it worth tying to get a copy of Anno 1404 before playing 2070 or are they completely unrelated?

Totally unrelated dude.

I just played hard reset for the achievment and I have to say I was amazed at how good the game was! Very under rated.

Hard Reset
Audiosurf ( this game is beyond underrated) i paid 89p for this on a steam sale and 120 hours of playing later, still not bored!! definitely worth the paltry asking price, especially if you have a tonne of varied music sitting on your HDD :D
