*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Crafting is a mess paulc25, I have 400 cybertech on my BH, discovered pretty much all level 49 epic recipes for Aim/Cunning armoring/mods and yet the ones I really want which provide stats for tanking like shield rating/absorb etc are not craftable and can only be bought from merchants.

Pretty much makes the entire craft useless as better level 50 purple items are available from the Ilum vendors for very little work.

Well that sucks. You would think crafted items would be better than those you buy as a reward for all the time and credits put into it. :(

Damn, i had thought healers would have been done the same as ours is with tanks. Every match i tend to have 8 or 9 medals despite doing **** poor damage, they all come from the protection points.

What's worse is the objectives are bugged... 6-0 Hutball win, I scored 4 of them - self healing - everyone fought in the middle so I ran the objective, that 64K heals were all on me lol

In fact despite a 6-0 win, no Republic member got an objective score!?

For me - I want to see fairer PvP rewards for healers, I am always healing into the 170-200k+ zone, and as such getting little to no kills... after all I am there to heal - I get a medal for a 2.5K (which anyone can get just by using a medpack) and 75K total healing, so I get 2 sometimes 3 medals per game - yet I play with my level 15 Assassin and get tones for damage, killing oppenets, etc...

:(

So true this on my main (a healer) I tend most matches to get between 3 and 5 medals, even when I heal 200K+.

On my Trooper DPs, I just run around shooting everything that moves ...twice :D, and almost always get 5/7 medals, something definitely wrong here.

Funny thing other played in a match where neither side planted the bomb on the first door, (sith still won, due to more medals), but they had a healer who healed for 499k (highest I have seen so far) and he got 4 medals, I did 181k damage on my level 17 trooper and got 5 medals ...fail much :o

You just seem to question most of my opinions. Whether it's hatred or what and now your trying to make apparent your taking the moral high ground.

It's a discussion forum, of course people are going to question your opinion, especially when they are so bizarre.

I'm spoilt? What gives you that impression, oh I received some nice presents, doesn't mean I'm spoilt at all.

Saying that you were disappointed with £5000~ worth of presents because you wanted a car, then backtracking a little bit when everyone flamed you, but you meant it originally = spoilt/troll. You decide.

Nasty? Because I have conflicting opinions? Definitely not stupid mate so I'm unaware where you got those ideas from, I mean I'd love to know the qualifications you've gained out of your life so-far.

So you think qualifications define a persons intelligence? They are all that matter?

You must still be at school, what are you, 16?

Simply put, you need to think before you post, or don't post at all. I'm sure you can manage to make a good point if you really try.

Have to agree there, healing in PvP is a bit of a joke at the moment, not only are the rewards poor compared to DPS but our job is made 100% harder by a bugged UI that shows peoples health as full when they're not. Sure you can ctrl-tab but that's not workable really and trying to click on someone is nearly impossible. This problem has been around since beta and a major bug yet it's not been addressed. I play a sith sorcerer and really tempted to re-spec if it's not sorted out a.s.a.p. maybe if all healers created a new ticket every day to complain it may help, well it wont but i'll do it anyway.

Talking of healing in PvP, any one else notice that the "protect the healer" is non-existant, when I played wow people would know they had a healer and try to peel people off them as it helps everyone. This doesn't appear to happen in SWTOR. I think it will take time for that to happen in randoms so for now groups are better.

Also the timing of their maintanence needs sorting, at the moment it's done purely around the US but for the rest of us we loose a day almost

Well I'm going to give BW some slack tbh. This is their first game in the MMO market so naturally its going to take them some time to get used to the whole setup. I do feel they are using poor excuses about the EU patch times but hey ho.

Every company has stumbling blocks when they first release an MMO. Do you really think WoW was that stable and patches were doing always on time without fail when it first came out ?

Quitting a game you enjoy because of some technical problems within the first month of an MMO release is poor show. I fully expected things like this to happen but they will iron out with time.

Rift ran by Trion who were very new to the MMO marker even had better maintenance periods than Bioware/EA who have much more knowledge in regards to MMO's. It's no an excuse at all that they are new, because they are not.

It's now almost 5PM UK time and the servers have no ETA letting us know when they are back up. I don't normally knee jerk when things like this happen but it's during the Christmas holidays when more people are off work than actually working.

If they don't give us proper maintenance times, other than most of the EU kicking off on the forums i think many will leave. I have checked the forums and all it is right now is the Americans saying it's our game like it or leave as apparently they are the ones that need to be pleased as without them there would be no game.

I hope Bioware fix up and quickly, it's a good game but it certainly isn't as good as they have led many to believe. It does certain things badly and some very well but it is not and will not be classed as a top MMO until they add and fix certain things.

For it to be anywhere as successful as WOW they need to keep it running for multiple years, with a high player base and millions of subscribers. If they do not do that, then it will be like all the other MMO's out there that have failed to live anything up to the hype.

I have American friends and despite them being lovely blokes this attitude is pretty much the same as theirs when it comes to all things not just this MMO :p

Havent gotten around to playing pvp yet but I am a Jedi Shadow!

Obviously want to have fun but whats the best way to farm valor atm.

Killing people ignoring objectives and hunting for medals?

Read above that healing for 2.5k grants a medal or something so have you guys got more please :)

Dunno if this is true for many other people (or even anyone else) but i rarely even notice healers in PvP. Between the buggy ui, the comedy amount of cc/interrupts and the 30% healing debuff just for pvping (lol) it's hard to actually notice a difference between having a healer and not (unless you're being seriously healbotted by 2+ healers)

On my sage alt (only low level so getting worse and worse as more people hit 50) it seems like most dps can do more damage in 1 or 2 attacks than a single slow heal can actually restore.

Bioware definately have a lot of work ahead of them for the PvP side of the game, just hope they are up to the task.

On the maintainance front, they shot themselves in the foot by making one version of the game for all regions. If they only took the US servers down this afternoon and patched them while leaving the EU ones until say tomorrow morning (EU time ofc) they'd have to come up with some way to tell the launcher not to patch our clients (or something) while still patching the US players or they'd be unable to play. Then they'd have the support nightmare of people with patched clients trying to play unpatched servers (and vice versa).

Don't know about Rift since i never bothered with it but out the major name MMO's, WoW is currrently the only one that has separate setups for regions. Once Turbine took control of the EU Lotro servers they started getting same maintainance times as the US ones (not as rubbish as this timeframe Bioware are using though)

I bet there are more EU players than American players, are there any stats anywhere?

http://www.torstatus.net/ probably has stats for it somewhere, they seem to have stats for everything else :p

Might be due to the lower level and not having all the healing talents from your healing tree. Finding at 50 on my Corruption Sorc that I can live throughout any one class laying into me, two is 50/50 depends on CC, three however and I'm brown bread. If I was only level 30 or so though I'd be missing 2 healing spells, so I doubt I'd live through one attacker.

It's a joke, i know they are not Bioware but it wouldn't suprise me if they acted like this. It's like everything out side America is Alien to them and that they are superior to everyone else. I hate that mentality.

I think i even saw one of them saying "if it wasn't for us you wouldn't be here so stop complaining we saved your asses in WW2. Learn your place as we will always be superior". Seriously, it's that bad.

If the servers are hosted in Ireland, then they should have maintenance done on them during offpeak early hours rather than doing it the same times as the Americans.
