Quick question here, I'm getting incredibly bad fps regardless of what settings I pick, even resolution changes aren't apparently affecting my fps...

I'm using a (yes getting long in the tooth) 4890 that's o/ced until I get enough money for a new card and whilst it's not ideal after seeing benchmarks of the game I thought I could manage a half decent frame rate for the time being.

Apparently not as I am getting between 20-30 on average at 1680x1050 and changing between low-high seems to make absolutely no fps difference.

I'm not being bottlenecked by the vram, so I really don't get what magic people did to pull 45 fps with a 4850 on low settings =/

Any help lads, much appreciated.

Have you turned off Antialiasing deferred thats a real fps killer

EDIT: Also some discussion about the card (some crossfire, some single) and everyone else seems pretty happy... http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/114518-25-battlefield-hd4890-crossfire

Low - Medium settings, no AA. Resolution 1366x768, average of 40 to 50 fps, playable in most areas (smoke and over bloom areas kills the fps).

just upgraded my monitor from a 22 inch ilyama @ 1920x1080 to a hazro HZ27WC @ 2560x1440 took a drive up to ocuk and just set up the hazro.

My jaw almost hit the floor the difference between 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 is amazing the image is so much more detailed and everything looks a lot sharper and smoother.

i cant believe the image is so much better i would say imho its a 50% improvement in image quality .BF3 truly blows you away at this res with everything on ultra. AA is not needed at this res i cant tell the difference with it on or off.

some good games on matts server tonight, madness on metro lol. Would keep playing but talktalk is pretty naff at peak times :(

Do any of you regular BF3 players ever get artifacts on screen? I'm getting them even with my 570 and 2500k at stock.

What sort of artefacts? Big triangles pointing towards your reticule?

If so, driver updates or lower your settings to high textures. See how you go.

is anyone suffering with a white screen while playing battlefield 3 and loosing the game? it says in task manager its still running but just a white screen and cant do anything but end task?

They're not that big but yeah, that kind of thing. If I turn off MSAA they go away. I don't think it's my card because it's new and the temps were all very low, plus I don't get artifacts on any other game or even in Kombustor at 99% load for 15 minutes.

Seems to be just with Nvidia cards and BF3. Turning off MSAA makes sense because better aliasing generally means more VRAM usage and that's what I've narrowed this artefact down to: overloading the VRAM. Although, 570s have 1.5Gb don't they? Are you playing at quite a high res with highest tex settings etc?
