Did I waste my money?le

I thought this reading it yesterday. The OP left out a key bit of info in his first post. So key in fact it makes a bad deal into a good one! If you think you will use the glasses at any point keep it all, if not then might as well take it back but the surge protector and HDMI cable will cost you £15-£20 (for not the absolute cheapest of either) and 2 pairs of glasses for £30 is a damn good deal.

Return them. The only problem with some of the cheapest hdmi cables is they're so badly made the plug falls apart. The signal tends to be fine until then. I just buy cheap from a reliable source.

EDIT - ah, just saw the glasses bit. Check what they're worth, to you and generally.

Looking at 3050 prices you got a fair deal, unless you're supposed to get the glasses free as part of a samsung promo and they made it sound like they were part of the package you paid extra for.

edit: According to Vomits website some 40" Samsungs come with two pair of free glasses, I'd have a look at the invoice and see exactly what the extra £50 was for.

Although you're right that the cable shouldn't make any difference, it's not a digital signal. People saying this annoys me, as they clearly don't actually understand the theory behind it and just go round spouting phrases like "digital signal" without actually knowing what they're saying. I'm guessing it's not just me that gets annoyed by it, but most people that work with signals like that.

The cable carries analogue, the same way digital TV is transmitted over the air as an analogue signal, not digital.

No. It is a set of digital signals and is transmitted over the cable as such, it is not the same at all as any digital TV transmissions over the air.

Take it back mate they tried all that crap with me they often think you know f all it's annoying how they do it. Always go for the old people too

Sorry for the confusion

The 50 I spent was including the cable, surge protector, and 2 extra pairs of glasses

I returned the package today, they refunded me 90  plus didn't ask for the glasses back

So now I have 4 pairs of glasses and £40 back off the price of the tv. Result!!

The TV itself is superb. The picture is just stunning, the freeview HD channels jus look absolutely stunning, and SD is dealt with so much better than my last Samsung. Tried a BluRay last night with madagascar and I was so impressed with the colours and the clarity, someone that my last TV just lacked on, looks so odd with MotionPlus on but I'll get used too it, sometimes makes the film look like a "budget" film the way it moves, it's hard to describe

Will have a good session on BF3 to test it with games today

return the cable and surge protector.

Just get any 1.4 compliant HDMI cable and the surge protector, I got a 10 way one for £15 last week and a rather nice HDMI cable for £8.99.

It'll be the same as a £5 cable but i like the colour and the material of the cable.

Google Duronic ST10B as the surge protector I got.

Basically I paid £23.98, more than half what you paid for the same thing.

That's a tast hdmi cable

MotionPlus (and whatever other manufacturers call it) looks terrible, thankfully it can be switched off.

Tons? I did a search using 1.4 compliant hdmi and the cheapest that came up on a page that was supposed to reval 100 items ranged from £37- £5.27

edit: It was the wording and I stand corrected. If i'd have searched for hdmi 1.4 then prices would have ranged from £1.57. Thanks

Why even search for 1.4? There's normal/hi speed and ethernet channel or not. A "1.3" cable will work fine between two 1.4 devices because the cables are not rated by specification number.
