Do You Game On Hard, Medium or Easy?

Usually I play hardest available, then the anal completer in me will always run through an unlocked "insane" difficulty if there is one.

I normally game on easy or normal I think. I love in Skyrim how you can adjus the difficulty during the game, which I think would be an awesome addition to all games as it can get very frustrating gettings stuck on a certain point and then giving up on the game due to not being bothered to keep trying or doing another run through up to there on an easier setting.

I used to play on Easy or Normal last year, but the last few months, I have switched to the hardest setting I can choose.

I always thought the hardest settings was scary or something to try when I just wanted to play for the story and enjoy it.

I don't find the hardest setting that I select any harder then online play, sometimes you can get killed by bullcrap shots, but I easy finish games without much trouble.

I think the hardest times I ever had was in MW2 and Black Ops SP... kept being killed more times then I care to count untill I finally got through it. lol

9/10 It's hard and if there is something above hard, like Nightmare or something else, I'll keep that for the inevitable second playthrough. When there is no challenge or risk involved in a game I get very bored, very quickly. Fallout3/NV is a good example of a game I love on the hardest setting, but struggles to keep me awake on anything less.

Some games just aren't hard enough whatever you do with them. I don't suppose the majority of today's gamers like failure very much.

I prefer to play on the hardest setting, mainly because I like the challenge. Why spend £30-40 on a game and then complete it within a few hours.

If there are four of five difficulty levels, then I'll generally go for the second-top difficulty. If there are only three (easy, med, hard) then I'll usually go for hard - assuming it's an FPS or RTS game.

I like games to have a bit of a challenge, though I don't like it to be too frustrating on a first playthrough. I really dislike it when games take all challenge away by being far too easy on all difficulty settings (like Rage).

I always start on what the game is set to, which is normally medium, it is the way the game was designed to be played. Then if I enjoy the game I go for hard setting :) Same as the guys above

Yep, this for me too in the vast majority of cases. The thing is that some gaming genres have evolved into interactive movies these days, so I like to enjoy the whole storytelling element without getting frustrated by cheating AI and the like.

If a game has replay value, I might consider playing on hard but as above, it depends on how the game defines "hard" and how it adjusts the AI and the game mechanics. If it means the CPU blatantly cheats then I find that frustrating and don't bother.

I must say that from past experience, there is no way that most games now are anywhere near as hard as they were back in the 8 bit era. I think that people can't have much patience these days (me included) as we're so used to being able to save and reload!

Always a dilemma this.. Particularly when there about 4 or 5 options.. I like just above challenging but not too hard where the enjoyment iis lost so normally select the hardest or one down from the harest if there are four options. Most games can be set down during anyway.

I still think the hardest game i recall playing was the first Far Cry which I played on hard. I could possible breeze through it now.. but at the time, i remember it being one of the first with Checkpoints only and no quick save.

Fps games always hard, strategy generally normal to begin with but once I learned then it goes up to hard.
