Hi there ive had my Corsair F90 SSD installed for around 10 months as an os disk, and use my other sata hdd for games etc. all the time i thought my SSD was sata 6 and now i think its only sata 3 :( it cost a fortune at the time so im not very happy , however I am wondering if i updgrade to lets say a 160GB sata 6 SSD it would speed things up. i know the extra space would come in handy as the 90 gets full very quick with win7 ultimate and only a few apps. but will it perform any better? also if a sata 6 device is plugged into a sata 3 port. will it slow it right down?

As far as I can tell it is a SATA-3 (6gb/s) drive.

A SATA-3 drive in a SATA-2 port will be slowed down to a max of ~280mb/s.

so will a sata 3 drive make much difference to the drive i have . im thinking of a 40% increase in read/write times, but in the real world will i see that?

I wouldn't like to say as I've never experienced it myself, but you would possibly notice a small difference in boot times and loading of larger applications perhaps. Someone else will know for certain though :D

I *think* the only difference you will see is in sustained transfers of large files.

You are already seeing the main benefit which is the fast access speed of the drive

i thought that, it is really quick compared to original sata drives. just didnt know if it would take game loading times down by a lot
It will if your games are installed on the SSD, but you suggest they aren't.
