Best budget gaming gpu?

The 6870 is available from about £135, and the reviews seem to suggest its not very far from the 560TI (384 shader version) which, from the reviews I was reading earlier, was quite a fair bit faster than a 460GTX.

Might be worth considering. I believe the 6850 might be a little faster than the 460 usually, very slightly slower if the 460 is overclocked :)

Now dont get me wrong, i love my 460 but there is NO way in hell they can take BF3 at 1920x1080p at 42fps avg on ultra settings!?!?!

My card uses mostly medium and a few high settings, no msaa, high fxaa and ssao and usually average about 40fps on 64 player servers at 1080p.

As soon as you put textures to ultra or enable msaa your FPS goes bye bye (5-11fps)

Asus GTX 460 768mb <---- That's why

The only thing limiting the GTX 460 768mb in BF3 is the high/ultra textures at higher resolutions because of the limited VRAM. They can be overclocked to 850/2000 very easily with only a very small voltage increase through MSI afterburner (if at all).

Obviously the 1GB one is a slightly better spec, but the lesser model isn't that far behind if you don't hit the VRAM limit. :D

Get a 5850 for around £80 2nd hand then add a second later for crossfire - for around
£160 you will have a faster set of cards than 6950+
(6850's are slower than 5850's)
