Oh mr purple, is that why my laptop is broke?

I love the purple shop, but not to shop, for shenanigans!,

many a time going in with someone who was browsing around, stand near a system with bemused and puzzled look,

wait for onslaught of uneducated fools, pretend to be in awe of every specification they throw at you, no matter how dumb they sound,

then the clincher, inform them just about everything they said is wrong,

of course its utterly mean and totally pointless but so are the sales staff.

Oh and the 'can I help sir?' retort 'I don't know, can you?', simply brilliant at sending them walking away with puzzled looks.

Must admit though people who ive been unable to convince to go elsewhere I have gone with them to help them choose and saved them from the unscrupulous sales staff. Let the staff lay out every detail and then torn apart everything they said that was wrong. Even had them open a system up so I could check what was in there a few times as the specs were wrong and I had to prove it to them. Or on the other hand I just wanted to see the system had a decent enough mobo. Never won any friends from the staff but won friends who bought from there a few discounts.

Good lord, do something more productive with your life. I.e. picking your nose etc

I would always deal with the manufacturer if I bought a laptop in store or online and it had a fault.

You know more than sales people, congratulations?

what part of saving his friends several hundred pounds and getting them a better PC for it is not productive?
he isnt saying that going to PC world is his entertainment on a friday night, just when his friends are thinking of going there

Are they really that dumb?

I am.

I was once chomping away on some fries and I accidentally put my finger in my mouth with some fries and bit it.......

I tried and failed to eat myself... Omg did it hurt...

To add to the thread op is obviously not a techie if he is going to pcw I suggest you take it to a local fix it guy

My friend bought a laptop from them with the whatever happens warranty.

It started to fail to boot most of the time. The HDD would sometimes not be detected and it reported smart errors on bootup. The bios also had some kind of diagnostics that tested everything and it also said the hard-drive would fail shortly. But the most annoying thing is that it would not boot sometimes.

When we got there it obviously worked fine apart from saying HDD SMART FAILURE etc...

They would not take it back for repair as it "worked". I complained that he even had the whatever happens warranty. I also said "how about if I go and "drop" it outside and it is broken?" He said "We would be able to tell it was done on purpose." I said "how?" he said "we just would".

In the end we gave up and I swapped the hard-drive out myself, as far as I know it still works fine now.

Pretty sure he'd actually still get talked into buying a stupid warranty from them again too :o

Don't think so.

No, he's right.

I mean, Going back to the beginning of your bickering with Haz, you started it by calling his an idiot. His claim of "you know nothing" was a statement off the back of your saying that the store assistants were clueless, he was just pointing out you werent much better.

For one thing, RAM covers dont have a warranty sticker on them, because they're user upgradeable.

Also, You're now talking bullcrap. You say now that you checked the bios and it showed 3GB...Explain why that wasnt mentioned in the OP then, Because if that was true, You would have. All you said was that you looked in the bios and decided it was a hardware fault. And that you checked windows process manager and it showed 776mb max memory. I smell bull**** child

Here you go mate.

Thread is now moving in the correct direction. :D

Im right on this one im afraid so your man love for haz must stop.
im not opening up a laptop that is not mine and fiddling with ram when it was sent back faulty. bios showed 3gb, windows says 766mb is usable.this was after a fresh install. therefore, something is wring with the hardware, they may have not put something back correctly. bious showed that a max of 350mb was being used for onboard gfx so something is not right.

my original point was that the purples dont know what they were on about saying it was because i went online without antivrus and then telling me that running 776mb is ok for windows 7.

honestly some of you guys on here are so anal about things.
Some sit there and pick at peoples posts when there is no need.

So, original point is, what this of been cured with using antivirus like the purple place said? answer is no.
should windows be running on 776mb of memory? answer is no whatever the cause.
