Those London Fireworks :O

Don't think they were worth the money tbh. Could have been better spent elsewhere.

Grumpy guts! However I sort of agree. Though I did think they were very impressive but 10mins worth seems a little excessive. I liked the choreography with the music though.

I just thought what a waste of money but then fireworks upset my Frank staffy dog so I don't enjoy them.

Once you seen a few firework displays it all becomes a bit boring. (Grumpy New Year’s Day mode)

Another waste of tax payers money for the sole benefit of Londoners again...

roll on the olympics, oh wait I don't live in London and still get charged for it :/

I kept thinking what an utter waste of money. 15 mins of constant fireworks not a little bit excessive in the current economic state? Must have cost millions, just so a load of tourists to 'woooo' and 'ooooo' at.

Should have saved the money and given it to some of the charities the Tories have screwed.

Isn't the fact that there were tourists there (and therefore contributing to the local economy) rather offsetting the cost?

It's for the benefit of anyone who wants to come and see the fireworks - whether they be Londoners, from anywhere else in the UK or indeed from the rest of the World. You could equally watch them on TV if you wanted to.

Blaming it on London isn't hugely productive - it's a function of it being the largest city, this automatically means it makes more sense to put on events where the biggest concentration of people is. I suppose they could put on a fireworks display of equivalent size in the middle of a Shropshire field but it would seem a bit pointless if it's only going to be viewed by half a dozen farmers and their livestock.

Decided not to go in the end and glad stress and travel and all that coupled with £10 a pint up west isn't a very attractive proposition even though was costing me £12 per two drinks last night beats paying £20.

Like any londoners benefit from the olympics ? can assure you they don't all the workers are immigrants (disposable staff) all the tickets will be priced out of normal hard working peoples pockets cant see how londoners benefit at all really.

I liked them however they seem to be getting a bit repetative. The Big Ben bit was really good however it then goes back to the same old stuff with the wheel.

I'm fairly sure the people of Stratford will be pretty happy about it.

I've just watched them on the BBC site and I thought they were really impressive. Worth showing the world we can do a display in style, especially with the Olympics coming up. (Yes seeing these has made me excited for the Olympics Ceremony.)

The govenrment tells us to stop with the keeping up with the Jones mentality and live within our means, then spend a fortune in pointless fireworks just to try to out do other cities. Then add the cost of the olympic games opening ceremony it makes me so angry .

Calm down, it is bad for your health to get worked up over a few fireworks being let off in the city... Besides it is good for promoting our country.

i thought it was WAY more impressive than other years but i reckon it was to give london more opulence to entice more people/money in for the olympics :)

I honestly liked the london one, I hate when people are dumb and buy a few fireworks to set off around fields and stuff (don't see the point in wasting money on a 2 minute nuisance that often scares pets or wild animals) but when it's a very big and good show of fire works then it's quite good.

Actually much better having seen them on Youtube. I had a good view last night from Vauxhall Bridge but although they were impressive, I couldn't hear the backing music. Much better when you can :)
Lived in London all my life and last night was the first time I've been up to see the New Year in. Worth doing just to say I've done it, but I can't say I'll bother again. Much better time to be had with friends and family watching it on the telly, and no need to waste nearly four hours getting back to South London.
