Thankfully I'm poor right now, and having an American account means that it requires slightly more effort to add money to my PSN wallet. 
I fail to see the point of these though, unless you pluck a mega player like Robben or Rooney or Messi or whoever then you're just going to be making a loss or breaking even at best. A big fat meh from me.

Thats the thing, there is always a chance that you do, if they allowed you to buy coins it would be a better thing, even at a crappier legal exchange rate.
Unless you get lucky like I did with Messi today, in which case, packs can be great

Exactly that.
I love opening packs and have probably spent in the region of £50-60 since release. I haven't bought any in a while though as it's utterly pointless unless you get seriously lucky and pull a big player.
Out of £60 worth of packs, the most expensive player I pulled is VDV, sold for 50k. Rest have been terrible IF players, sold for about 20-30k each, Suarez 25k and that's about it.
Screw it. Imma open my free packs, and then some of these rich-people packs. I'll update with what I get.

Adler and Anelka in the third.
