i dont think ill find anyone willing or have the right tooling to do that apart from the manufacturers, however it would make a good donar board for the individual pins

i can unsolder one or two and re use them in my board, thanks for the offer how much would postage be? im in birmingham, dont mind paying postage at all

Remember what I said earlier, check console repair sites that advertise that they do reflow repairs on PS3/360 consoles, essentially the same thing your after so it wouldn't hurt to drop them an email.

It can be done but not always reliable, you end up putting the cpu back in and it may not work so have to remove then correct the pins or try again. Takes time :/

If it was me id attempt it, i wouldn't want to do it for anyone as i couldn't guarantee the outcome. Plus i have not got that much time to waste :(

I would try on other benching forums, a lot of extreme benchers would be more interested in such repair. May even get lucky and have someone to offer their service.

Also got quite a few promising hits by searching 'BGA Reballing service UK' many state that they do reball CPU sockets.

yes im gonna try asking around first, this is only a last resort and its not like a few pins are damaged its only one missing pin,it might even work yet idk,the original owner said it didnt but ive straightened around 4 or five pins since then,if i can just glue in a donor pin and it makes good contact with the cpu then i should be fine

ive fixed bent pins before where it caused missing memory ect but never a broken pin(yet)

Good luck anyhow! Would be great if you fix it. I've resoldered broken pins using core from cat6 cable, but those were in the olden days when pins were on the cpu themselves .

thanks i hope so too,im still emailing repair places and tried a few reballing firms ill keep you posted on how i get on,but still not afraid to attempt repair myself if needs be

just got two emails from gigabyte but i knew this would be the answer as ive asked them before, very fast responses though, 2 emails back in the space of half an hour, messaged asus three times so far and no reply and that was three days ago

"Dear Sir,

Sorry, the answer is still the same. We cannot repair our competitors boards our engineer is instructed to repair Gigabyte products only and not all sockets are the same, some are even not repairable depending on the damage/issue. You will need to return to Asus.

Regards

Returns Dept"

Just out of curiosity, what are the die numbers for the damaged pins?

Asus policy, do not except rma on boards, if the pins are physically danaged.

what you mean die numbers? the pin out map says its for pwr

i read on asus site regarding customer induced damage and it shows screenshot of broken/damaged cpu socket and it says they do repair and charge if in warranty which the board is,but im being told they dont do this service,so ive tried emailing them again

I bought a Sabretooth P67 with 2 damaged pins from a well known e-tailer via the bay. I was able to workout what the pins were for. They were Grounded pins for iGPA and the Sabretooth does`nt use onboard graphics, so i got a bargain.
So if you looked up these pins, you should know thier function.

i cant find the link atm,but theres a an intel pin map for 1155 socket, the screenshot on first page shows where the broken pin is but last time i checked it was for pwr but dont know what pwr for? dont have chip yet either to test with, but you were lucky with those pins

How much did you pay for this broken board? you have to be careful attempting a repair or you could end up damaging a CPU with it.

You get the number of the pins off the 1155 socket grid. Then you check the numbers in the cpu die map, which gives you another number. Then using the die map grid, should give some indication as to it`s function.

This was mine for example,
From the 1155 socket grid the 2 pins are K-13 and M-20, both are VSS and Grounded.
The cpu die map shows the connection for the 2 pins as AA33 and V35.
So when i look in the die map grid, it points to intergrated graphics.

i did that theres two rows of numbers along the pin grid and where they meet gives you the pin number, then you look in the list, feel free to check for me if/when you get time but pretty certain it was labeled as pwr
