It is the native USB 3 ports which are also interesting to me. AFAIK it will have three Intel supported ports on board and probably others from third party vendors.

Interesting, but when are mobo makers gonna realise inserting PCI-E X1 slots immediatly below a X16 is usless as most graphics cards over hang them. Mobo's need to get larger so more spacing can be applied and we should all get xigmatec elysiums to house them.

Yes, this is one of the main reasons I didn't bother waiting for the IB boards and went for the MSI Z68A-GD65-G3 because it'll support the IB CPUs, (hopefully) and has PCI-E 3.0.

The main differences I took into account was that the Z77 boards had more SATA-3 and USB 3.0 ports, but the way I looked at it was that only SSDs can take real advantage of the speed of SATA-3 and my board has 2 of these anyway and it also has 4 USB 3.0 ports. If I need any more USB 3.0 ports in the near future, I'll add in an expansion card and I can't see that I'll be able to add more than 2 x SSDs at the current prices.

When SSDs come down in price in the future to near mechanical prices, (we can hope

), we probably won't be far from the Haswell launch anyway.

So, when I saw the extra benefits that the Z77 chipset offered before Christmas, the main things I wanted, (support for IB CPUs and PCI-E 3.0) were already available on some of the Z68 boards and it gave me the perfect excuse to be impatient and upgrade early!!
