OcUK would like you and your whole family to learn and share via our forums. For this reason swearing and the posting of "adult" or offensive material is forbidden. Simply replacing some of the letters in a swearword with a * or any other character is not acceptable. If you must then please replace the whole word with ***** or other repeated character. We also expect members to behave respectfully and not launch personal or abusive attacks on other members.

Is ****ing acceptable, or unnacceptable? Going by the rules, "ing" is part of the swear word, so surely should be fully starred out?

God knows, I've asked umpteen times with no response and I see mods doing it all the time (one today for example).

I get suspended for it occasionally though so I too would like to know what's going on.

Swearing is against the rules, the ing part doesn't really matter, it is the actual swearword that matters.

No need to swear anyway on here.

****ing is acceptable but partially starring out the swearing itself is not so if you were to put in three asterisks and a letter that would count as partially starring out the swearing.

If you're in any doubt then the safe and sensible options are to star it all out or simply to not use it at all - you should be able to get your message across without swearing.

'****ing' has never been considered a swear on here AFAIK.

If you got banned for it, a don was probably looking for a reason to :D

Can you remove the stipulation to fully star out then?

People are getting caught for this and it really does come across as 'do as I say, not as I do' sometimes.

If people never swore in the first place, there would not be any problems. I really see no reason to on this forum. It is a forum for discussion and not abuse.

Not all swearing is directed at another board member or in an abusive manner you have to realise. It can be used to relay a story, event or a joke in certain tones.

The mod today who swore, it wasn't in abusive tones at all it was him talking about himself. Yet it wasn't fully starred, if I done the same I'd get a suspension.

I've received warning for that... Think I may have even been banned for it too!

Star it all out.

Seriously though.... Characters in soaps do just fine without having to swear. I'm sure members on here can do the same!

Then again the rules say that swearing is not acceptable. Majority of time swearing is there for abuse or slagging off someone. - People on this forum have many warnings regarding swearing over and over again. I have never 'got' as to why people need to swear.

No one is saying they have to, but because you don't doesn't really relate to how other people - including moderators - portray a subject.

Fill in a "Mod" application form...complete the "Don" initiation and voila......Don Biohazard....should be good for a few laughs if nothing else....;):D:cool:
