*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

Got 8 PvP bags yesterday got
Cent or champ whichever one is better - ear, legs, off hand, belt which was nice although I traded in for the wrong ear :(

Went to the level 50 pvp map and made my side rage, the Jedi were repairing stuff and they were win trading with us and I kept killing the Jedi, lots of fun and the epic rage was wicked too :D

I'm currently at Level 18 and Balmorra really does go on. I find myself paying attention to the main storyline but skipping through most of the side quest conversations.

I've not done a single group activity so far, and i've not needed it tbh.

I will say that after playing Tor for several hours with full voice acting and with an effort to add some story to the quests, it makes games like WoW look antiquated. That being said apart from the main story the game does feel like WoW with a Star Wars look and feel so far.

All the worlds from here in on are pretty much the same. Doesn't mean they are bad but general level questing is as you described. I only pay attention to class story.

Group work can be good and fun, it is very much like WoW. Mixed bag of experience. One group can be decent solid and clear an instance no fuss. Some groups I've had have afk'ers, noobs and people who try and pull 3 sets of elite mobs...

The only thing this game is missing, imo, is a level of maturity that WoW had after at least a few years. There are lots of "little things" that become a problem when you look at the bigger picture.

Not being able to tab through replies in whisper is just one gripe out of many that I have.

I'm sure improvements will come over time, I just hope they apply fixes to my little gripes with the game.

Really loving my Juggernaut in PvP now. I'm only missing the legs and boots from the Champion PvP gear and it's completely living up to it's name, just plows through people whether group based or 1 v 1. Have the Smash AoE crits up to 5k now without using a consumable and at valour rank 57 so will be interesting to see what it's like once i can start getting Battlemaster gear on at 60.

My only niggle with the class now is that it takes being level 50 and so much gear for it to be good compared to other classes, that Defense doesn't work in PvP and our resistances don't count or we have very little of towards a lot of the damage types done there.

After seeing Ulkesh (G-Man) soak up damage yesterday albeit with me healing I was super impressed with the tank spec, to the point I might change my Jugg from DPS to Tank at end game. He only has 2 bits of the Champ Gear I believe too? Was so much fun though - 5 guys trying to take him down... thinking about it he should have used /dance to really mock them! :D

In all of the mmo's I have played I have never grouped with so many people who have stated that they are new to MMO's. I am not an expert in these games by any stretch (never level capped in WoW, everquest, quit Conan after two months etc etc) but I am finding that I am explaining aggro'ing and the importance of stats to them. Never thought I would be doing that!

I think that the star wars 'verse has been a draw here to people who have never played an MMO before. Could go someway to explaining what you are experiencing above.

Tank spec is ok without the PvP gear but the resistances from expertise go a long way for the Juggernaut as outside of the cooldowns we're lacking on the passive side compared to the other two tanks. When the cooldowns are up we're beasts though and with PvP gear you won't go down even if the only healer on the team is crap, damage isn't too bad either. DPS specced the damage is just insane with really not that much worse survivability, i think i have something like 17.2k hp being all out DPS spec lol.

Such a fun class once you put some time into them.

So I want to join an OcUK guild for this game. I have been lurking the thread for a while and see guild talk, however I am confused as to what we have going and where. Happy to be imperial or empire and do not mind which server as long as PvP. Could someone just tell me what guilds we have set up, where and who I whisper in game to join?

Cheers in advance.

Indeed - same for me and I am not MMO experienced at all - City of Heroes for around 6 months but that was with 2 housemates and we kind of just coasted through it not 100% knowing everything.

I've asked some of the lads on here some terms through guild chat - and TOR is my first PvP experience (did none of CoH) - and one of the lads from work who is playing with us just force leaps in as a sentinel to mobs and moans about being killed when our tank is like... errr wtf mate!

People learn fairly quick, at least those I have grouped with though - the one thing I do hate is the WoW terminology used, everyone is assuming everyone played WoW

"open up your spell book"
"got any potions?"
"it's like XXXXX in WoW"
"anyone want to do any dungeons?"

Read the first Post mate :)

I am guilty of this :p

Its hard when you have played WoW for so long.

My worst one is: "Use your trinket" (for the 2min ability that breaks crowd controls).

But I also say "Vanish" (for disappearing Act) and "Sap" (I cant even think of the ToR name for it - tranquilising dart or something).

Cheers ;)

So which guild do you recommend?

I have read quite a few posts about the immortals - recommended?

I think so - wab obviously is a big fan and i think its TimBrad who is enjoying it too :) - amongst others I am sure.

I am on a PvE server mate - but Frostclaw is the server for PvE if you fancy that - other wise the Immortals is prob a good shout for PvP

Cheers for the response.

Last few questions:
Which server
Which Faction

Niman PvP (EU) The Immortals (Republic)
Niman PvP (EU) The Dark Immortals (Empire)

From the first post ;)

I think The Immortals now have a Empire side as well - i'll let wab or another confirm though.

Someone asked what "alacrity" was in general yesterday, I replied haste rating :o (so did 2 others).

I call my life to mana spell life tap, and my whirlwind thing sheep :p.

It is annoying but I get the habbit aspect of it - some people get really angry when you ask what it means though. I asked about Alacrity rating recently and got told "like haste" said I never played WoW and the chat fell silent lol.

I think it's more annoying for me because I don't really like the whole "mystical/magical" setting, like trinkets, and dragons, and spells and things... I find it super lame. Someone telling me as a Jedi to open my spellbook makes me feel like a child... I AM ONE WITH THE FORCE there will be no donning my robe and wizard hat here!

Empire side is relatively quiet compared with the Republic side as people are currently focusing on their mains on the Republic side.

Great guild. Really good atmosphere and there is always something going on be it PvP, FP's or our world boss/world pvp nights (which are always great fun!) downed the Quesh (spl?) world boss last night which was good.
