I went from the E6600 with a HD5850 to the i5 760 about a month ago (thanks to MM

). WOW what an incredable difference it makes to this game, before I could only play on low setting with 1820x1080 at 25 fps, I also had massive slow downs during explosions, but now I have it all on high with mostly 40+ fps.

If anyone is on the sidelines about moving from dual to quad I would go for it. I honestly thought my E6600 would see out 2012 but the old girl was getting week at the knees and had to be put down

Pricing up the essentials with an i5 2500k comes in at just over £300. That's MB/RAM/CPU/HS.

Yeap it is pretty cheap to upgrade, I only had to add just over £150 after selling my Q6600 setup. Well worth it as well, you think the Q6600 is doing well, then you upgrade and you see just how much performance you gain.

Do you think I would notice a big difference if I changed my card to a 460 2Gb model? None of the next Gen cards are floating my boat so I'm waiting on news of the 7950. Ideally I would like to not have to replace my PSU as well, which is a corsair vx. 550w.

I couldn't say. I switched from an 8800GTS to the 460, and I'm not clued up on what's hot/what's not tbh.

untill you get a 1920x1080 capable monitor 1gig vram will do you fine, and 550w will be fine for a single gpu setup.

It's TFU over all over again. I wouldnt be surprised if Matt removed te OcUK from the server name to stop the whining on here. He pays for a server out of his own pocket. If you don't like the way he does things. e-mail him direct, cos we don't care. This is the BF3 thread, not the I'm sore about LtMatts server thread

And you need to learn how to drive the LAV more defensively instead of leaving yourself wide open all the time and squawking for repairs.

Nein!

Keyboard and mouse all the way, I manage to pull off some pretty decent low level flying in the chopper just using mouse and keys, and am also a pretty capable jet pilot.
