Ok then, why do you think others in your community are wrong for wanting or expecting parity in public service ie representation and opportunity? Going back 10-20 years ago a black person in the Civil Service was nearly unheard of, and co-incidently women who married had to leave certain departments.

Only some attitudes have changed across the board it would seem.

I believe it's wrong because we shouldn't care about the colour of a policeman's skin. I struggle to see why it even matters.

If those who complain really see it as an issue then perhaps they should go and sign up.
 
To be honest, I think what she said was inappropriate but she shouldn't resign. Neither should a white person that made comments the other way.

I understand the desire to stamp out racism but the amount of fuss accusations get is ridiculous. A bit like in football where breaking someone's leg can get you a telling off but calling someone names will see you banned for months.

It matters to some, especially when that organisation is supposed to be representative of the society it serves and has in the past been accused of institutional racism.

Yes, it clearly does matter to some. Not all, like people often think.

Why have ago at politicians or the met for not having enough black people.... They cant force people to join lol. Made me laugh when I heard Lammy make his statement.
 
I didn't know who she was and then I recognised her... the stupid woman from newsnight. EVERYTHING thing is a race issue for this woman. She doesn't just have a chip on her shoulder, she's got chips, fish, mushy peas and curry sauce. Boooooo!
 
People make mistakes, people who should watch what they say should not really be using a medium like Twitter. Should she resign? Of course not, no one was hurt, no one died, she was stupid in what she said but she's apologised.

That said, I can't stand the woman.
